"It's a Grand Night for Singing!" will return to the stage this summer June 17-20 at Lexington Opera House.
After more than a year without live performances, executive producer Everett McCorvey and the team at UK Opera Theatre are back in front of an audience with the 29th version of Lexington’s favorite summertime spectacular, "It’s A Grand Night for Singing!" Because of industry regulations related to COVID-19, this year’s production will be 90 minutes with no intermission and will feature a smaller cast and orchestra than audiences may be used to.
“As we work to find our way back to live performances with an audience, the performance will feature a few group numbers, but mainly smaller ensembles, solos and duets,” McCorvey said. “Cast members will be wearing tuxedos and gowns, throwing it back to when 'Grand Night' all started in 1991 — this will truly be a 'town and gown' affair but rest assured, there will be dancing! We are fortunate to have as our guest choreographer, Lexington’s own Patrick Garr, who is currently in the touring cast of 'Hamilton.'”
