Mike Ertel is on a Texas tear.
The Louisiana-Monroe graduate transfer has scored at least 10 points in the past five games for the UAB basketball team.
All in the Lonestar State.
The Blazers (22-6, 13-5 C-USA) watched a second-half lead vanish only to close out with a fierce rally for a 73-60 quarterfinal win over Rice in the 2021 C-USA basketball tournament, Thursday, March 11, at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
UAB faces Western Kentucky in the tournament semifinals, Friday, March 12, at 11 a.m. on CBS Sports Network.
“I knew coming into the game, believe or not, that Rice had an advantage,” UAB head coach Andy Kennedy said. “They’ve been in the arena, they got two wins on this floor, seen the ball go in the basket and played exceptionally well last night in knocking off Marshall.”
