U.S. to sanction Putin directly, White House says

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed reports that the United States would follow the lead of the European Union and the U.K. in sanctioning Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
