Two state beaches to open this weekend, two weeks ahead of schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Department of Environmental Management announced on Wednesday that two of the state’s beaches would be opening this weekend, two weeks early.
Scarborough North and Roger Wheeler state beaches will be open both Saturday and Sunday this weekend weather permitting.
The weekend trend will continue up until Memorial Day to accommodate early beachgoers.
“After the year we’ve all had, we’re glad to open two popular state beaches early so that Rhode Islanders can get outside and enjoy themselves when crowds are light,” said DEM Director Janet Coit.
Beaches will official be opening full time on May 29.
