Former Orlando Pirates defender Tomas Inguane says South Africa must not be celebrating having two clubs in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals because this is supposed to be a standard occurrence for the country.
This year has marked the first time that two PSL clubs came out alive from the group stages of the continent’s premier club competition with Kaizer Chiefs joining perennial campaigners Mamelodi Sundowns into the last eight.
"Two teams from South Africa in the quarter-finals must be happening all the time," Inguane tells
KickOff.com from Maputo.
"Is South Africa not supposed to be a powerhouse on the continent considering the resources in the country? This is the country with the best infrastructure on the continent, the best league on the continent, the best paying league on the continent… South African clubs should be competing with clubs from Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt who at times even have two teams in the semi-finals or final. That is the level that PSL clubs should be comparing themselves to.
