A man accused of planning his father's death in a murder-for-hire plot to get insurance money has pleaded guilty, according to the Travis County District Attorney's office.
The elder Shaughnessy was the owner of a Central Austin jewelry store, Gallerie Jewelers, while his son was the sole beneficiary of a $2 million life insurance policy.
The murder-for-hire plot was orchestrated by Nicholas, prosecutors said, in order to collect on the policy in the event of his parents' death.
