Two children were electrocuted today from an illegal electric connection at Balatari village in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram.
The deceased were cousins -- Al-Amin (11), son of Mominul Islam, and Alimul Haque (6), son of Azidul Islam of the village. Al-Amin was a student of class five, and Alimul of class one at Balatari Government Primary School, reports our Lalmonirhart correspondent.
One local Abu Bakkar Miah of the village was irrigating his paddy field using an underground electricity cable connection from his house illegally. The two children went to collect plums from a tree while they were electrocuted and fell unconscious on the spot, said Chhakir Uddin, grandfather of the children.
