For Life
We often see "inspired by true events" at the start of movies and television shows, but rarely is it a story as astonishing as that of Isaac Wright Jr – the inspiration for this show.
Married with a child, he was sentenced to life-in-prison in 1991 on drug charges – charges he said he was innocent of.
Working with an inmate paralegal organisation, he helped overturn 20 inmates convictions, before getting his conviction overturned five-and-a-half years later. He went on to study law and passed the New Jersey bar in 2008. In 2017, the New Jersey State Bar Association closed the investigation into his character, and he became a licenced attorney. He is currently running for mayor of New York City in this year's elections.
