TUT students ‘cannot wait to join fees protest’

The president of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) says students at the institution will complete the 2020 academic year in a weeks’ time.

They will then join the ongoing national protest against financial exclusion at universities.
Mike Mothiba says if no resolution is found to the issue of financing and historical debt, TUT students will join the protests.  
“We don’t have a separate plan as TUT, this is a national issue for the Minister of Higher Education (Blade Nzimande) to meet us halfway and do something about outstanding fees. Our students are not going to join now, but as soon as they are done writing (exams) and nothing progressive has been done they will be joining.
