Performances from UK School of Music's Classroom Concert Series are broadcast each Tuesday from 8-10 p.m. on WRFL.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2021)
— Last fall music returned to the Singletary Center for the Arts and the University of Kentucky campus after six months of silence brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For a venue used to annually presenting around 200 recitals and concerts featuring UK School of Music’s talented students, chamber groups, ensembles and faculty, it was an emotional return as arts administrators and musicians alike were able to practice their passion once again — albeit in a different way.
To meet the demand of critical educational and performance needs of UK’s music students and fill the souls of arts patrons in a safe environment, UK School of Music and Singletary Center launched the Classroom Concert Series. Ensembles were filmed without audiences and performed physically distanced from one another and masked appropriately for their instrument or voice. The resulting filmed concerts can be viewed for free in their entirety on the UK College of Fine Arts Vimeo page.
