'It brings to mind the temperature of the Austrian hills in Spring'

Kipferl is a croissant. Or rather it’s a crescent-shaped pastry found in various forms across Austria. It’s also a charming expression for someone who is an endearing fool. So whereas we might call a small child who is prancing around the house wearing nothing but his mother’s smart, red high-heeled shoes a ‘silly sausage’ (yup, that’s you little Walter), the Austrians might say, ‘Oh, do stop being such a silly croissant.’
Although the Austrians do also call such folk a würstel; a sausage, which just goes to show how wonderfully similar we sometimes are to our European cousins.
