TROY, N.Y. â Troy police are probing a hit-and-run auto crash involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed. The incident happened late Thursday night, April, 29.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Troy police patrols received 911 calls reporting a man on the ground, at the intersection of 112th Street and 2nd Avenue, who appeared injured. Patrols responded and located the victim, dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Eric Jones, 40, his family has been notified and police noted their thoughts remain with Jonesâs family and friends as they process this unexpected loss.
The preliminary investigation has concluded the victim was struck by a vehicle and that the involved vehicle did not remain at the scene of the crash. Throughout Thursday night and continuing Friday detectives are interviewing potential witnesses and sifting through any available video evidence.
