Aged and Community Services Australia CEO Patricia Sparrow has spoken with Sky News about the challenges of tripling the aged care workforce by 2050.
Over the next five years the aged care system will undergo a major overhaul in a bid to reform the system with a $17.7 billion spending increase.
The package includes $6.5 billion to provide 80,000 new homecare packages and the Morrison government is also committing to mandate the time staff spend with aged care residents.
Ms Sparrow noted the increased hours staff will be required to spend with patients will help address and reform the quality of care in the system.
