Last Tuesday afternoon (April 12th), Galesburg Police responded to the area of South Henderson Street and Monmouth Boulevard about a suspicious incident. Dispatch received a call from an anonymous source that a red sedan was chasing another vehicle with "guns out", according to police reports. Police located the red sedan in the 1000 block of West Berrien Street. A male passenger took off running but police detained the other two males inside the car. The male that fled, identified as 20-year-old Christopher Babers of Galesburg was almost immediately detained shortly after. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a Glock 19 9mm handgun, a .357 revolver, a fully-loaded extended magazine, cannabis, and $260 in cash. The Glock had one round of ammunition in the chamber. Babers was arrested on Knox County warrants for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Threatening a Public Official. 19-year-old Jawon McCray was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. 20-year-old Jonathan Zefo Jr. had a valid Knox County warrant for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and he was arrested. All three were transported to the Knox County Jail.
