In a Facebook post, Trillanes said he learned to be an optimist when he was incarcerated for at least seven years for staging the unsuccessful 18-hour Oakwood mutiny against the Arroyo administration in 2003.
“In political circles, some say I’m the optimist. In a way, yes, I am,” he said.
“[F]or the whole seven years and five months that I was in jail, somehow, I always believed that one day, I would be free… as I firmly believe now that we will be free of the Duterte curse in 2022,” he added.
