Bolton Lions’ member Babu Roye pictured presenting a certificate of appreciation during the annual toy appeal
ONE of Bolton Lions’ longest-serving and best-known members has died at the age of 82.
Babu Roye joined the famous service charity in 1986 and had been a key worker in the Lions’ annual toy appeal and in the radio service it runs at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
Mr Roye was born in India and lived in Kenya before moving to England to make his home in Bolton. After he joined the Lions’ Club, explained fellow member John Fairhurst, he was eager to “to take a full part in all of the Club’s activities.”
