In Portugal, it is not uncommon to have laws that are completely dissociated from the reality they are intended to regulate. It seems that the same problems are now being faced with regard to an EU instrument: the EU Whistle-blower Protection Directive, which was recently transposed into Portuguese law. This article explores the problems of practical applicability of these rules.
