When the state goes after journalists - Underreported Reality<br /><br />What happens to the media and investigative journalism when the state prosecutes or uses other sanctions against journalists? In this year's Underreported Reality, we meet journalists and representatives of media organizations from Sweden, Iran and Great Britain who have got the authorities after them. After they have put the spotlight on journalistic investigations.<br /> <br />Underreported reality is an annual seminar with a focus on investigative and scrutinizing journalism. The seminar invites journalists from Norway and the world who have made a mark by recording<br />topic that can often be overlooked by the big media houses. Underreported Verkeilhet places emphasis on highlighting freedom of expression and giving a voice to journalists who dare to remain silent.<br /> <br />Taghi Rahmani<br />He has been sentenced to 5,000 days in prison, has spent more than 1/3 of his life locked up and has been called Iran's most frequently imprisoned journalist by Reporters Without Borders. Rahmani has advocated for reform in Iran as a writer, journalist and essayist. Among other things, he is fighting to get his imprisoned wife and human rights activist Narges Mohammadi released. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison because she<br />worked to abolish the death penalty. Rahmani was imprisoned for the first time as a 15-year-old and has been a clear voice during the protests in 2022 and 2023.<br /><br />Henrik Evertsson<br />Evertsson is an Oslo-based journalist and documentarian who, among other things, has shed light on what happened when the Estonia ferry sank and 852 people died. He and the documentary team have received<br />flowers from the next of kin, but a report and trial from the Swedish authorities. In the documentary Estonia - The discovery that changes everything, the documentary team uncovered, among other things, unknown damage to the ferry. Evertsson and the team have been charged with breaching burial peace and risk being fined for diving with a mini-submarine to investigate the shipwreck. His case is pending in the Swedish Supreme Court.<br /> <br />Andrew Feinstein<br />He was a member of the ANC and sat in the South African Parliament. The investigative author has uncovered widespread corruption in the collusion between the arms lobby and politics. He got an arrest warrant against him when Jacob Zuma was president for his findings.
