Impulses will come through, so it will be off and on snow showers in the mountains. Also, the bounds of north georgia could see 13 inches of snow by the middle of the week. Incredible. That is the snow part. We are looking at the cold. This will be some of the coldest air we have seen this winter. Chris this is coming straight from canada. It is remarkable, how cold this is. It is moving straight down through the midwest into our area. It really starts to get cold as we head into tuesday into wednesday. We are talking frigid air. How cold . Nigel tonight, weve learned more about a fire at a Greenville County apartment building. Firefighters say it was accidental. They say the flames started outside, and made their way indoors. Wyff news 4s myra ruiz is live and local in Greenville County. Myra . There were 25 adults and two children that we were able to assist saturday morning as a result of the fire. We were able to help them with food and clothing initially, also help them replace any medications that theyve lost. Myra fire Marshal Jeff Nelson says investigators found evidence that the flames likely started from something on one of two patios, roof, and spread through the attic. Make sure the fire is out completely. Unfortunately, when the wind is blowing, like it is today, sparks can fly and cause fires. Myra the flames did not initially trigger any smoke alarms, he says, because there were no smoke detectors in the attic. Instead, a barking dog alerted its owner, who then left the apartment to alert other neighbors. Neighbors knocked on doors to make sure everyone got out. Firefighters say, fortunately, there were no injuries, but red cross volunteers say theyll likely see similar fires as winter continues. The assistant principal called it a somber day here. It has really rocked the school, with Something Like this happening. Mike 17yearold Dominick Galosi and 18yearold shemar byers, both students at the school, died in a crash in york county on friday. Troopers say the suv they were in left the road, then hit a fence and a tree. They were passengers. The driver and another passenger ended up in the hospital. Dominicks mom tells us he was very humble, and was always smiling, though he never got over the loss of his brother, christopher fowlkes, who was killed while shemar was a great person. Officals say 73yearold david ash of honea path ran off the side of the road, hit a tree, and was thrown from the vehicle. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead on the scene. Gabrielle officals say an arrest has been made after a shooting at a taylors apartment complex. Leaks has been charged with murder, following a verbal fight with 23yearold anquan gambrell on saturday night on edwards road. Officals say gambrell was shot in the leg, and later died at the hospital. Nigel in Greenville County, a Homicide Investigation is underway, after a man died 1 month after he was stabbed. Right now, ryan mcbride is being charged with murder in the case. Authorities say he is the brother of the victim, sean mcbride. They say sean died friday at the hospital. Deputies say the cause of death was a stab wound to the leg. They say the attack happened on january 4. Gabrielle also in Greenville County, right now, deputies say they are no longer investigating a report of a shooting at a nightclub overnight. Deputies say one person was hurt in a shooting around 2 00 a. M. , at club la roka on south pleasantburg drive. Deputies say the victims signed a complaint withdrawal. As we speak, the board of Trustees Facilities committee is discussing a proposal to merge or bank pickensarea Elementary Schools. Were talking about hagood elementary, a. R. Lewis, ambler, and Holly Springs elementary. The proposed merger would mean students in kindergarten through 2nd grade would go to one school, and students grades third through fifth would go to another school. The details of which schools would be impacted, and how, are being unveiled in this meeting. District spokesman john eby told me the proposal is in light of declining enrollment and population trends, at half capacity or less. He says consolidating would cut down on operation costs, and create more academic opportunities for students. But many parents we talked to are not only concerned, but angry. What we are going to lose is unbelievable. These kids already ride on a bus for one hour to get to school. Will be an hour and a half to two hours to get to school.
