And, when you add it to the allegations of just a few days ago, actually, the statement made by the president himself that in the context of james comey wanted to keep his job, he was a suspect, another deeplytroubling allegation. Congress needs to bring director comey back to testify. We need to get those notes if they exist. We need to get tapes if they exist. But there is, i think, mounting concern over just how this administration appears to be interfering with the russia investigation. Reporter and so youre a lawyer. To your mind, does this comment, when added to others, if true, constitute obstruction of justice . Well, i would need to look at just what the president said. And ill be very interested if there are note the and precisely what the president said and in hearing from the director filling in on what those notes have reported. So i think its too early to say in the absence of that evidence. In fact, at this point, were still dealing with allegations, not evidence. But its enough for congress to insist on the director coming back on obtaining this evidence. Whether there was a concerted effort by the president to interfere, obstruct this investigation. Reporter you just got out of a meeting with cia director pompeo, did this come up . And did he shed anymore light on the other story that was really gripping capitol hill all day until this new story broke about President Trumps comments with Russian Diplomats and whether he may have inadvertently or intentionally shared Sensitive Information with him . We did have a meeting, it was a previously scheduled meeting where we covered a lot of ground, and i did raise this with the director and while i cant go into what he had to say, i can tell you on the basis of what the administration has said publicly that general mcmaster did not deny that classified information may be involved. Now the latest from mars, where a nasa rover called curiosity continues to roll across the martian landscape. It is still sending back stunning photos as it searches for signs of life. Reporter from mars, curiosity can barely sigh earth, more than 30 million miles away, but curiosity is seeing mars as never before, leaving its mark, its tracks and sending back postcards of sand dunes, 20 feet tall, extending for miles. So were reading the rocks with curiosity. Reporter reading the rocks. This geologist helps decide what pictures curiosity should take and where it should go. Hundreds of scientists and engineers support the rover. They cant drive it in real time from earth because theres a 30minute time lag to get a message to mars and back. So curiosity shown in this nasa animation gets its instructions beamed up at the start of each day, and the rover is such a talented geologist that it can teach us a lot from a single pebble fused into a bigger rock. Theres a pebble right here, and its actually quite round. Reporter and on mars, round pebbles mean they used to be wet. If you think about pebbles that you find in a stream on earth, they tend to be very round as well. As they move in the stream, pebbles, and they round off all the other corners. And that shows us they were formed in rushing water. This is the first evidence we have from the surface that water flowed across the surface of mars. Reporter this nasa animation is based on mars actual surface. Curiositys capabilities include a laser that zaps rocks up to 25 feet away to find out what theyre made of. Its the first rover that can drill for samples of mars and analyze them in its builtin lab. An early sample told us more about that water that used to be here and led to curiositys biggest find so far. Water on the surface of mars, you could scoop it up and drink it. Reporter rob manning, chief engineer told us that because the water was drinkable and because curiosity also found essential organic chemicals, mars could have supported life. Does that mean life was there . It doesnt. We dont know. Reporter youre talking about microbial life. Microbial, singlecell organisms, but if you would look for on the surface you wouldnt find. Youd have to go underground, just like in this planet you have millions of life underground. Reporter life may have traveled back and forth between mars and earth. When a meteor comes along and hits mars, a rock from mars can be lifted up, travel then, encircles around the sun until some day it will bump into earth and land in say antarctica. Reporter where a rock from mars was discovered in 1984. Right. We found mars rocks, and we found them all over earth. And the reverse is also true. Certainly earth rock with life in it has taken a trip to mars. Reporter could that life survive the trip . Reporter 30 million miles. We dont now. We think life might be able to do that. Reporter get ready. Heres the punch line. Could have been that mars was habitable before earth was and life got its foothold on mars and took its journey to earth, and were all martians. Most of earth is constantly recycling as the plates on the surface move around. But here on mars we dont have evidence for plate tectonics. This is the mars rock history. And thats a unique opportunity to explore a time in the solar system that may not be preserved on the surface of earth. Reporter the scariest part was curiositys landing on mars. It couldnt bounce cushioned by air bags. The way smaller rovers had. Curiosity weighs a ton, too big for the bags. So the lead engineer and his team came up with the bizarre plan to pack curiosity into a flying saucer. Fire rockets to slow its descent and use long cables to lower it onto mars. Many here thought they were crazy. The team recognized that if we failed we would find no comfort or solace from the general public. Reporter there would be a lot of fingers pointed.
