Three separate locations hit by three suicide bombers who apparently arrived by taxi. But its just the latest in a spate of deadly bombings here in turkey. Thomas kemper of atlanta, georgia, was waiting for a connecting flight. The blast was first. That really woke me up from the short nap. And then the shooting. You heard really gunfire, and then the people started running immediately. And you just ran. You just ran with them. Reporter Richard Kalnins of connecticut told us he and his wife spent three hours trapped inside the airport. There was really no place to go. No place to hide. Hearing about explosions and hearing about gunfire but having nowhere to go. Its a feeling of terror. Reporter theres an extra layer of security at this airport before you even get into the building. But it doesnt seem to have stopped two of the attackers from getting inside the terminal th one of them just over there. That blast was in the arrivals area. Another was at the entrance nearby. And a third was upstairs in departures. Turkish media claim these images show one of the attackers inside the airport and another dressed in a thick, quilted jacket in the middle of summer, which would have aroused suspicion. Amazingly, this morning, the airport was running as normal. And workers began fixing the damaged building. Leseasy to repair will be the damage to turkeys economy as the country descends deeper into violence. Today, shocked relatives buried their dead, their loved ones caught up in an act of terror that turkey says looks like the work of isis. U. S. Officials also say the evidence leans in that direction, including the terrorists weapons and method of attack. But so far, theres been no claim of responsibility. Time and time again, over the last five years, weve seen syrias civil war spill across the border and into turkey. But, josh, if isis is, indeed, the culprit here, this time its targeted not just turkey but one of the worlds Busiest International airports. Intelligence source says turkish investigators have located the taxi driver who dropped the attackers off at the airport. When he was interviewed, the driver said he didnt recognize the language the men were speaking. Cbs newses correspondent Margaret Brennan is traveling with the president in ottawa. State department updated a turkey travel warn chicago alerted u. S. Citizens to increased threats from terrorist groups throughout the country. Cbs news has learned that there had been isis chatter in recent months, indicating that the group was intent on transportation hubs in turkey, including this airport. If this is isis again, cbs news terrorism consultant Richard Walton says it would signal a vulnerability that is extremely difficult to detect. Its the second against a major airport in three months, following on from the attack at brussels airport. And it will make Security Professionals around the world concerned, gravely concerned about the security of airports. Los angeles International Airport had already ramped up its Security Posture ahead of the 4th of july holiday when 3. 3 million americans are expected to fly. Airports in atlanta, san francisco, charlotte, and seattle all increased the visibility of police officers. Reporter when we visited rios 66 million doping control lab, its director francisco radler, was eager to show off this front line against cheating in the olympics. How through in these three weeks . Probably over 6,000 samples in three weeks. So its more than we do in a year in our normal routine. Reporter now, all of the athletes blood and urine samples may need to be flown to the u. S.
