The integrity of the most popular sport in america is being called into question just days before its biggest game. Did the new England Patriots cheat their way into the super bowl by deflating game balls so they would be easier for the quarterback to grip and for receivers to catch . Today as the nfl investigates the man at the center of the controversy, tom brady talked to the press including anna werner. You know, i didnt alter the ball in any way. Reporter Quarterback Tom Brady said he did pick out the game balls but insists he doesnt know what happened after that. Reporter are you comfortable within yourself that nobody on sunday on the patriots said did anything wrong . I have no knowledge of anything. I have no knowledge of any wrongdoing . Reporter are you comfortable that nobody did anything wrong . Im very comfortable that nobody did it as father as i know. I was in the locker room preparing for a game. I dont know what happened over the course of the process with the footballs. Reporter nfl regulations mandate that game balls be inflated to between 12. 5 and 13. 5 pounds of pressure per square inch. Officials check the balls two hours before the game. But when later inspected during and after the game, they were reportedly two pounds low which made them easier to grasp. I was shocked to learn of the news reports about the footballs. Reporter coach Bill Belichick has gotten in trouble for bending and even breaking nfl rules in the past, but today the coach known for his intense attention to details told reporters he hadnt heard anything until the morning after the a. F. C. Championship game. I can tell you that in my entire coaching career i have never talked to any player staff member about football air pressure. Thats not a subject i have ever brought up. Reporter in the four days since the investigation began brady says he has not been contacted by the nfl. From first half to the second half, i didnt think twice about it. I didnt put one thought into the football at that point. Once i approve the ball, thats the ball that i expect out there on the field. Reporter the nfl still has not said when it might finish its investigation, but, scott, with the super bowl just ten days away, a lot of people are waiting to find out what they might discover and also if there are any penalties against the coach and the team. You know we couldnt help but notice the irony of the ad that was behind brady and belichick today for the gillette razor that is known as the flexball. Tonight the m has grown to 75 cases in at least six states. The vast majority are linked to disney theme parks in southern california. We learned today that visitors may have been exposed for a longer period of time than we were told. Heres ben tracy. Reporter Public Health officials now say that disney employees and visitors infected with measles were at the theme park well into january not just during december 17th through 20th as was previously reported. They say disneyland was the perfect incubator for a Measles Outbreak because the theme park attracts International Travelers from countries where measles is still common. Anyone who has not been vaccinated is told to avoid the theme park and large Public Places such as international airports. Orange county Health Officer dr. Eric handler. If youre not immindsed, get your vaccine and protect yourself. If you do that then you dont have to be concerned where you go or who you visit. Reporter those infected in california range in age from seven months to 70 years old. Most had not been vaccinated for measles. 17 of the cases are not connected to disneyland. Robin shipley decided to still bring her daughter to the theme park. Even though i know she was inoculated years ago its been three or four decades for me. I was more nervous about myself getting it than her. Reporter Public HealthOfficials Say they likely wont be able to identify patient zero in this outbreak, but scott they say its likely someone from a foreign country or an american that traveled abroad and then visited those disney theme parks. Dr. Lapook has some answers. Reporter measles is one of the most infectious viruses. On average a person with measles sickens 12 to 18 unvaccinated persons. In comparison, a person with flu infects one to four and someone with ebola infects two to three. The measles vaccine is 95 effective in those who have received two doses. The death rate is about 1 in 1,000, but complication rate is as high as 1 in 3. Dr. Jane seward is with the c. D. C. It can result in death. It can result in brain damage. It can result in hospitalizations and somebodyy sick. Reporter the c. D. C. Says people are considered immune if any of the following are true they were born before 1957 therefore likely exposed to measles, they have documentation of adequate vaccination, or a blood test suggests immunity. The c. D. C. Suggests people without immunity discuss vaccination with their health care provider. Clearly theres room for improvement. In california, the rate of vaccination is 91 . Amarillo usually gaza city about four inches in all of january, but in the past 24 hours 12 inches fell. The storm system is now on its way to the east coast. Well, scott, that snow in amarillo in one night more than new york, boston and philadelphia combined have seen the entire winter season. And now were watching a storm that could change that a little bit. A heavy rain maker moving across the southeastern states for friday could see some very heavy rain, even a few severe thunderstorms. Then it climbs the east coast heading into the weekend. The line is right along i95, and its just a saturday storm from morning to evening. Then it races off to the northeast and intensifies over the atlantic. Rain side one to as much as four inches of rain. The i10 corridor along the gulf coast. On the snowy side. A terrible fire at an apartment complex in edgewater, new jersey. About 1,000 people were forced from their homes. The fire burned for more than seven hours last night and the ruins smoaldered throughout the day. 240 apartments were destroyed, but there were no serious injuries. Investigators say workers using a blowtorch accidentally started the fire. Today is the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision roe vs. Wade which gave women the right to have an abortion.
