>> i think so. there are a couple of things that we will talk about in greater detail in five minutes. certainly very nice. few clouds right now. look at the temperatures. about average. it is cooler than it has been but this is where it should be. temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 down towards fredericksburg. look at that reading to the left of your screen. oakland is only 43. they were 37 last hour. that's a different world out there. satellite picture, radar combined. we do have a few clouds pushing through. they will move through throughout the evenings and we will eventually clear later tonight. so for tonight, we are looking at clearing skies. a little bit chilly. low temperatures 42 to 52 and winds out of the northwest. we will come back and talk about the weekend. everything is still pretty much a go. >> sounds good. >> dc police still searching tonight for nearly two dozen young men who robbed an upscale dupont store. a growing and frightening trend. we are following the story and we are joined live. matt, what happened there. >> reporter: anita, no clear consensus whether flash flood robberies are becoming more common in washington but there is no questioning the fact that when they do happen they are extremely frightening. in case you have never seen one before, this is a flash mob robbery. >> late teens, early 20s. a large group of people, usually young people who organize on some type of social media like twitter and then rob a store. in this case nearly 10 young men robbed the clothing store. it happened in broad daylight just a few days ago and in just a matter of minutes thousands of dollars worth of clothes were stolen. >> they just started taking merchandise. so far nobody has been arrested. they also say they are not seeing a pattern of robbery. but the manager who did not want to talk on camera said he heard from other store managers in washington that flash mob robberies are becoming increasingly common. and back in 2009, 9news told you about another flash mob robbery. this one at another dc clothing store. universal gear. in the 1500 block of 14th street northwest. same thing. a large group of young men ripping clothes off the racks and then dashing out of the store. universal gears manager seen in this surveillance video trying to fight back did not want to talk on camera today but he told me off camera it happened so quickly it was like a blur. he was also glad to report that most of the suspects in his case have been arrested. but as i said earlier nobody has been arrested so far in the most recent flash mob robbery here in washington. in dupont circle earlier this week. so if you have any information whatsoever about the case you're asked to call dc crime stoppers at 1-866-411-tips. anita. >> matt, thank you so much. meantime, administration regarding federal funding of stem cell research an appeals court has given the administration the okay to continue funding embryonic stem cell research and reversed a judge's ruling last august. a major case of animal neglect on the eastern shore. sky 9 captured the scene where more than 100 horses were rescued from a canterberry farm. many of the animals were in poor condition, severely malnutrition diagnosed. they are being transferred to rescue farms for rehab. also in maryland, the fearsome fish that are called snake heads have managed to get themselves into an entirely new area and now a new bounty home has been posted to catch and kill these predators. more incentive to encourage all of us to fight back against them. >> it is a first. this picture of fishermen lester thorson jr. sent to maryland's department of natural resources confirms the fish he is holding is a snakehead. an asian invader with fearsome teeth and a deadly appetite for helpless native species. and what's news about this is where it was caught. from the potomac river near white's ferry between loudoun county virginia and maryland. maryland saying they had been confined to the lower potomac. the expansion of this aggressive species into the upper potomac is a big concern. >> tiny little trains and go further than you would ever imagine. >> reporter: illegally imported snake heads were first discovered in maryland in 2002. in fact, that is me along with a fishing guide catching one back in mt. vernon in 2007 when it was clear efforts to eradicate it. maryland is trying a new incentive to get rid of them offering fishermen and online bounty of prizes to log on to the state's fishing information website and post picture proof of themselves with snake heads they have captured and killed. up for grabs, hundreds of dollars of fishing equipment. >> keeping these fish. we can possiblely keep the population under control. >> reporter: a lot of people that have seen the picture asked me, did you seat the fish? not a huge accomplishment there. tonight with the lightening the degree of difficulty starts to go up a little bit. the lightening are for real that's for sure. they beat the caps twice this year. they just survived three straight elimination games to beat the pittsburgh penguins in seven which means they are battle tested and feeling confident. on the other hand they are also feeling tired. the caps have been off since last saturday. the lightening had less than 48 hours to recup from their last series. the caps will want to exploit that tonight. >> in playoffs it sounds like you have a
