Thank you. Neighbors tell us a woman watched as a Prince Georges County sheriffs deputy shot and killed her son last night. The shooting happened on 63rd avenue in east riverdale, maryland. The sheriffs captain Nancy Ridgely says the deputy was trying to serve a temporary protective order. Its believed the mans mother opened the door but then he appeared behind her pointing a gun at the deputy. The deputy fired one shot and killed the man. The deputy is a tenyear veteran and has been placed on leave while the shooting is investigated. Also in Prince Georges County, police have arrested four men in a deadly 2010 shooting that just became a murder case. Its been two years since melvin pike was found shot inside his car, but last week the 29yard pike died of complications related to that shooting. Officers have ruled the manner of death a homicide. The four men have been ged char with murder and several other felony counts. The man convicted of grabbing four women in Dupont Circle as he bicycled past them is headed to jail for three months. A d. C. Judge sentenced oscar pena to six months in jail but suspended half of that sentence. The 31yearold will also be on probation for three years and he needs to undergo treatment as a sex offender. If her plan takes effect, the average enrollment per school would increase from 376 to 432 students. The Virginia Department of transportation wants drivers and local leaders to know theyre ready for winter. Vdot officials showed off new snow removal equipment and other tools in preparation for severe weather. One of those new tools is a web application that allows citizens to see how well their neighborhood is being plowed. Once theres more than two inches of snow on the ground, that web application will be open to the public and the public will be able to see whether we started plowing in the neighborhood, whether plowing is in process or whether plowing has been completed. A local doctors fight to regain his license to write prescriptions for powerful pain medications is in limbo this morning. D. C. S Health Department banned dr. Alen salerian from prescribing class two narcotics in april. Last night a judge threw out some of the testimony after learning prosecutors did not share the interview tape with salerians lawyers. Reporter the day began with a silent vigil held by supporters in tribute to the three patients who committed suicide since the d. C. Government stopped him from writing prescriptions in april. This is in memory of the people who died unnecessarily. Reporter the hearing before the District Court of medicine adjourned wednesday night shortly after it with us revealed the government had withheld from the defense secretly recorded videotape and photographers of a salerian patient.
