latest developments. >> reporter: good morning, andrea. he is currently not fit to take the court in an nba game. those are the words from commissioner david stern. that means arenas will not suit up in the wizards next home game. the allegations of gun play in the locker room are what originally got him in trouble but it's been his inappropriate attitude that prompted harsh and swift discipline. >> of course it's hard. that's why we are upbeat because we know it's out there is way far from the truth. >> the organization came out with the statement. we abide by that. as a team and coach, we have to worry about going out and perform wearing the players we have. >> reporter: new details surfaced that could put the other player involved in the controversy in worse trouble than arenas. he charged with attempted murder and attempted use of a weapons. he was traveling to detroit from amsterdam when investigators say he tried to ignite an explosive. metro says the goal of a new team of yesterday. they plan to make similar stops at stations throughout the system. investigators get a clue as they try to put together a near disaster on an airport runway. dozens of vacationers get a late and stressful start on their trip to hawaii. in the news, an explosion killed two people and left several children among the people. nine u.s. soldiers were wounded in the blast. military investigators are trying to determine whether it was caused deliberately by a bomb or accidentally by an unexploded shell. investigators looking into the american airlines plane that ran off a runway last month in jamaica say when the plane landed it touched down nearly halfway down the runway. however, the investigating team said they are not sure if that was a factor in the accident. nearly 100 communication among intelligence agencies. no word that anyone will be fired over the intelligence failures. a sentencing hearing starts today for the young bethesda man who admitted storing bomb making materials in his bedroom. they expect the hearing to last all day. it's scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. now 20 years old, he pled guilty to having the bomb materials as well as attempted carjacking charge when he tried to flee in july of 2,038. prosecutors are asking for at least a six-year prison sentence. the judge is expected to hand down the punishment tomorrow. mocking a serious gun incident in the wizards locker room last month will cost gilbert arenas. he has been suspended without pay. 9news now digital correspondent alex trevino joins us live with details. >> reporter: good morning. you won't see the all star, gilbert arenas going 20-plus points at the verizon center any time soon. he is paying the consequences for unacceptable behavior. erratic behavior by gilbert arenas has not gone over well with the nba commissioner. he has been suspended indefinitely. this week's finger gun during introductions and his postgame laughter about it was apparently the last "the washington post" reports witnesses that saw the gun incident in the locker room claim teammate javaris crittenton responded to the gun incident by loading his own gun and cook cocking -- cocking the two have clashed before. there have been shoot outs. they have rammed each other's boats but yesterday the conflict took a dangerous turn. it was caught on tape. check out this unbelievable footage shot by the japanese whaling vessel. the target is the sea shepherd state of the art speedboat. you can see it there, the black boat that looks like a stealth bomber or something batman might drive. they deployed it wednesday on an attempt to stop the japanese whalers but the japanese whalers weren't having it. they actually rammed the boat in the freezing antarctic waters. now take a look at what it looks like from the sea shepherd. the collision knocked off over 10 feet of the bow but amazingly all six crew members are okay. the 80 gil didn't fair as well. it's sinking in the southern ocean. the sea shepherd says it will still push forward with the mission. this has escalated the confrontation into a real whale war. i want you to get a final look at what happened to the boat. you can see there there is the front of it. those are the 10 feet sheared off by the big japanese vessel. over here you can see all the crew members that amazingly survived the ramming. you can find these
