is usually the busiest shopping day of the year. some stores opened at thanksgiving or at midnight to lure in customers. friday, retailers at malls had sales of 10.7 billion, increase over last year according to early shopper track figures. new report suggests cleaning the chess a peek bay would create thousands of jobs, spur millions in economic activity in virginia, maryland and surrounding states. also says pollution creates an economic drag by lowering the value of oyster and crab catches. damaged oyster populations cost virginia and maryland more than $4 billion over several decades. eating disorders. there's a new report from american academy of pediatrics finding that hospital stays for children younger than 12 with eating disorders jumped 119% between 1999 and 2006. the academy advises pediatricians to do routine screenings for disorders. also says it can help prevent eating disorders by stressing proper nutrition, exercise, and avoiding unhealthy focus on weight and
