scorched by acid. now a local woman decides her emotions as her attackers meet justice. this is 9news now. >> a jilted lover, a bottle of chemicals and scars. >> that has been the life of this woman for the first year and a half. speaking for the first time, she talks about the night that changed her life and her daughter's too. matt is following the emotional story and he joins us now live from the scene of this horrible crime in austin hill. matt. >> reporter: anita, it's simply not possible to overstate just how much katrina watts has gone through these past 16 months and it would be awfully hard not to be impressed by her incredible recovery. >> immediately it just started to burn. i could feel it burn. >> reporter: it was march 29th, 2010. katrina watts had just gotten out of her car with her 4-year-old daughter and was about to go into their home. >> i just wanted to get in the house and take the shower. i had just got off the work. >> reporter: when she was suddenly approached by two women. one of whom threw a cup full of toxic chemicals at her and her daughter hitting both of them in the face and leg. >> my face had gotten so swollen and my lips they said i could have died. >> reporter: the attack was born of jealousy. you see, katrina's ex-boyfriend had just broken up with one of the alleged attackers and was getting back together with katrina. >> someone was walking up behind me. i still jumped. >> reporter: one of the suspects pleaded guilty earlier this year and is now facing eight years in prison. the other suspect was arrested yesterday. >> i always believed because i believe in god, i always believed they were going to catch them. >> reporter: her daughter turned five years old today and according to her mother is a happy and healthy little girl. >> she is doing great. >> reporter: katrina says she is doing well though 16 months and several surgeries after the attack she still gets extremely emotional talking about it. >> i don't even want to live in maryland anymore. >> reporter: and believes the scars from that terrible night, both physical and emotional, will be with her forever. >> being a christian, i can forgive. i've forgiven them for what they've done, but i'm never going to forget. >> reporter: the second suspect in the case who was arrested yesterday is now being held without bond. if convicted, she could face up to 50 years in prison. anita. >> okay. matt, thank you so much. new at 11:00, two jet liners collide on an airport taxi way. this happened at boston's logan airport as both planes taxi for takeoff. the wing clipped the tail of a smaller regional jet. that smaller plane sustained major damage. now, here is the good news. no serious injuries to the passengers. but all of those hundreds of people involved had to find another ride. well, with the tensions running high and time running short, hints tonight of a possible compromise that could raise the debt ceiling and avoid a final default as of august the second. negotiators have the congress and the white house are reportedly working on two tracts. one the original plan to raise the debt ceiling and cut spending simultaneously. and the other a backup plan to give president obama the power to do it unilaterally if the first ideas fall through. and as for a fifth consecutive day of talks, congressman of maryland is feeling pretty air right here on 9 news now with cbs news hosting the coverage. tonight a mother who jumped with her baby from a moving car on the beltway to escape a carjacker tells her story. she and her 20-month-old girl were hostages on a high speed drama that ended last night. >> when i jumped out, then i hit my head and i rolled and then i guess i stood up. i asked him to pull over thousands of times. >> while the 22-year-old mother was putting gas in her '95 lexus in baltimore when that carjacker took her and the baby hostage. the mother said at times they were going 100 miles per hour. even side swiping a state trooper's patrol car before they got on the beltway. she was worried they would crash and that she and her baby would die. that's when the woman decided the only way to make it out alive would be to jump. >> when i seen the northern virginia sign, 495 west, i'm like, oh, my gosh, he's going to take me to virginia and rape me and kill me from front of my son. i was so scared. it was a nightmare. >> the suspect, 22-year-old terron white now in custody. he is facing a long list of charges, including kidnapping. this next man is accused of sexually assaulting three women at gunpoint, and the worst part he is a dc police officer. tonight officer larry seay has been indicted on 9 counts, including sexual abuse and firearm charges. he is accused of sexually assaulting three women on duty and armed with his service gun. seay allegedly threatened to arrest the victims and that's when he attacked. the alleged accidents happened in 2006 and 2010. he had his police powers revoked last year and he's due in court again in september. not guilty. that plea today from the brooklyn man for murdering and dismembering an 8-year-old boy. his lawyer said he may be mentally ill. please say erin lured the boy into his car on monday. they say erin took him up state to a wedding, brought him back to his apartment and then killed him. police found parts of the child's body inside his refrigerator. others were inside a dumpster blocks away. >> it's an unbelievable, unbelievable feeling that i feel like i lost my kids. it's the closest that everybody feels to this family. >> first of all, the realization of the lost child. number two, i can speak for myself as a father, thinking what were the final grizzly moments of his death. there is no words. i have to stop interviewing because i'm getting very emotional. >> everybody is emotional about this one. in fact, last night you could hear tearful chanting throughout the streets of the park as thousands of people gathered for the funeral. his tiny casket carried on the shoulders of the folks that knew him and now the same people who will help carry his family through this emotional time are with them now. well, tonight betty ford is back with her boyfriend. that's how she often referred to her husband gerald ford even after he passed away. mrs. ford was laid to rest today alongside her husband at his presidential museum in michigan. burial had a service with thousands of friends including bill clinton and barbara bush. mrs. ford passed away last friday at 93. rupert murducks trouble has jumped the atlantic ocean. they are trying to see if phones had hacked into 9/11 victims and their families. >> i have 9/11 victims in my district. they're allowed to know if their family was violated. >> it
