Reporter you know as far as we know right now, just one man has been injured while walking under the tree this morning. It happened around 9 15. We know is hes man in his 50s. And so far, hes in critical condition. But no name has been released just yet. About two hours after that happened, another tree branch fell in the same area. Crews fortunately were not underneath it when it happened. And as you can see, the crew the crews right now are pretty much at a standstill and th are dump trucks and diggers at this scene. But trying to figure out what the safest way to remove that tree will be. Now also as you can see behind me, this elm tree which is very similar toe same species of tree that fell this morning, also has a main trunk with two branches branching off of it. Similar to the tree. And you can see that there was a third branch that was cut off and has hollowed out inside. The life of an arkansas death row inmate has been spared by the United StatesSupreme Court. As don champion reports, the decision thwarts the states plan to execute eight inmates over the 11 days coming up before its supply of lethal injection drugs expires. Reporter a lone protester stood near arkansas notorious cummins unit monday night which houses the states death chamber. When somebodys life on line . And we have so many mistakes, and theyre happening all the time, then we have to really rethink is this is this necessary . Reporter overnight the unite Supreme Court denied the states request to lift the stay of execution for don davis. The death row inmate was scheduled to be put to death monday evening. But a lastminute ruling by the states Supreme Court put his and inmate bruce wards executions on hold. They are two of eight arkansas planned to put to death in 11 days before one of the three drugs it uses for lethal injections expires at the end of the month. Basing an execution schedule on an artificial kilby date. Thats to say the date that one of the execution drugs expires, is not a principalled way of scheduling executions. The drug is connected to botched executions in at least four states. Its inherently risky and theres no good reason to be using this drug. So lets first talk about the first downward spiral in temperatures. And then well talk about the rest of the workweek, tomorrow whats going to happen is we have the east winds which are going to push some cooler air up against the mountains. This leaves us with more cloud cover. Some spotty showers, and temperatures that are going to be running about five degrees or more cooler than theyll be this afternoon. Look at tomorrow morning on futurecast. The mostly cloudy skies in place. And temperatures starting off in the 40s and 50s. And even a few light rain showers possible on and off throughout the y. The chief and other Law Enforcement will give you the details of that. I want to again give our condolence to the family. The godwin family and all of its members and really again, thank them for the way in which theyve handled this very tragic situation. Not only for them personally, but for the community at large. Also want to thank the community. There was a lot of support from the community. Not only in terms of family, but in terms of the Law Enforcement effort and the kind of information and tips that we were given. And i want to thank our partners. The federal, st local, and other state Law Enforcement agencies. That helped in this regard. And finally i want to emphasize the fact that this particular incident received a lot of attention and rightfully so. Because it was a loss of innocence. Innocent victim. We however have many, many homicides not only in cleveland, but throughout this nation. And ultimately i believe one of the things this has taught us is that we cannot resolve this underlying issues of violence particularly gun violence if we do not function and operate and have the same compassion and commitment that weve shown here. As a community. And finally, i want to thank you, the media, you were very helpful to us in keeping things straight. Keeping the facts straight. At approximately a little bit after 11 00 today, Pennsylvania StatePolice Officers received a tip that the vehicle that we were looking for. The white ford fusion, was in a mcdonalds parking lot near erie, p. A. Those officers responded. The vehicle fled from that area. There was a short pursuit in which the vehicle was stopped. As the officers approached that vehicle, Steve Stephens took his own life. We are grateful to the poem that gave this people that gave this tip to the Pennsylvania State police and we were grateful that this has ended. We would prefer that it had not because there are a lot of questions im sure that not only the family, but the city in general would have had for steve. As to why this transpired. Again, our condolences are still with it will family of mr. Godwin. And you have all heard them on the news lately. They were forgiving. Excuse me they were forgiving of steve for committing this atrocious act. And then we knead to follow need to follow their lead as the mayor stated there are other victims in the city and around the country. And we can continue to work hard to bring closure to though families also. There those families also. There are a lot of things about that that we dont know. A lot of circumstances that were still gathering as detective said, sergeant shotts stated. Were in the early stages of this. Its been probably less than an hour since this transpired. So as we get that informati, that my partners here, steve and pete, would like to come up and say a couple of words. Steve . All right, just real quick, as we discussed the goal from 2 00 easter day was to make sure that no one else was a victim of violence by mr. Stephens and even though the investigation is continuing we believe that to be the case. That was the number one goal. Obviously the other goal was to bring mr. Stephens in safely. And unfortunately, he chose that not to be the case. So again, we thank the public as we said from day one, less than 45 hours ago. The public would be key to bringing the tip that was needed to resolve this situation. Thats exactly what happened. And kudos to the Pennsylvania State police for doing an outstanding job and addressing the tip. And bringing this to a conclusion. With that . Pete . Thanks steve.
