I think we have multiple rounds of showers mixed in with a few thunderstorms that is in the forecast. And the first line of showers of which is moving into the area right now. I will call it more of an area of light rain. It just started sprinkling out here on the weather terrace in the past couple of minutes and you can see that very light rain now approaching the 95 corridor, and it is going to be a few areas imbedded within that, where it is a little bit more steady. But i want to zoom out and show you what is headed in this direction. Until we get this main swirl feature off to the west, that upper level low, moving out of the area, we are still going to be under rounds of showers, and an isolated thunderstorm. And that is going to be for this afternoon, evening, and tonight. So our yellow weather alert is going to continue here, 1 00 p. M. This model is a little bit overdone. But it shows the idea that we are going to have scattered showers and then isolated thunderstorm around your 4 00 p. M. We are following some breaking news now out of the glover park section of the district. Police are questioning a man about a homicide at an Apartment Building in the 4,000 block of tun law road. The incident sent are thes rushing rush sent residents rushing out of the building. Pete has more. Reporter police first came to these apartments for a suspicious package call. Instead, they found a bloodied body inside. And sent everyone out on the street. A little bit chaotic. I have never been close to anything like that before. Reporter those living in this building watched from ton law road, as police looked for a suspicious package. They thought it was linked to a murder. On the fifth floor. At this time, it appears to be domesticrelated. And all parties involved, as far as witnesses are cooperating. Reporter police gave few details. They swept the building for while they questioned a man. At 9 30, everyone was let back inside. I wasnt expecting this at all. It just got very, very strange. A strange situation. It is a quiet neighborhood. Reporter police have not released the names of those involved. Or if they were related. Live in glover park, wusa 9. We are following more breaking news now out of rural ohio. Police say multiple people have been shot and killed. This is happening just west of cincinnati. The details right now are sketchy. But Police Believe they may be investigating several crime scenes. There is no information on whether or not a suspect is in custody. Or the possible number of people dead. Police have arrested a plan a man in the death of a 2 yearold daughter, charged with neglect and involuntary manslaughter. Police say fields drove two other children to school forgetting there was a little girl in the backseat. They say he climbed back into the car, seven hours later, and found that child unresponsive. He immediately called 911. But it was too late. A family Facebook Post seems to confirm the body found in Shenandoah National park is that of nicole mittendorf. The Fairfax County firefighter disappeared last week. And remains of a woman were found yesterday afternoon, about a mile from the White Oak Canyon parking lot. Mittendorfs car was found last saturday night there. Police also revealed they found a suicide note in her car. Purple rain. Still hard to believe he is gone. Two neighbors in a Prince Georges County neighborhood are being called heros after quick action last night. When they saw smoke and flames, they grabbed a truck and some chains and saved some laws. Mikea turner explains what happened next. Reporter when the fire broke out, neighbors say a little girl and her parents were trapped in a basement here. It was without second thought, they leaped into action, ripping off the security bars, pulling everybody out to safety. A frightening scene thursday night when this home caught fire next to rick belts home. Belt was sitting quiet on his computer in his dining room, when all of a sudden, he heard loud screams next door. When i heard my name called, rick, rick, help us. And i was like okay, now something is going on. Reporter belt ran to the front of the home. Then the back. And that is when he and his neighbor leon page saw this. Next thing i know, i saw smoke coming from this window here. So we screaming and hollering, someone help us. We cant get out. Before firefighters arrived, belt and page came up with a game plan. Page reached for a sledge hamer to break the bars off the basement window. When that didnt work, belt tied a chain to his truck, which worked. And at that point, we got a furniture pad of mine, and we slid them out the window. Out the window of the property. Sea Pleasant Police showed up to help and police say the fire broke out before 9 30 on the third floor of the three story home. And an unintended flame is to blame. And while neighbors say everything in the home is destroyed, they are glad they were there to help, and everyone got out safe. It is just good to have somebody to help you. And right now, the leading edge is just about to i95 and not quite into Prince Georges County yet. But it is just giving it a number of 30 minutes or so, and we should finally start to see the showers tracking into places like laurel as well. And light rain right now falling from rockville, northwest corner of dc, some sprinkles outside. Most of that steady rain is back to the west, along i66 toward fairfax and down 395. A few little areas where it is a little more steady, back to the west. And closer to the shenandoah frlley, and also upperville and this is all a couple of different rounds. We will be pretty unsettled this afternoon. Evening and tonight. And not saying the whole thing is wet but there will be some wet periods and i think this is the wettest period that we are in right now. And we will be in. And i think it is going to break up a little bit, closer to this evening and hopefully there will be some dry times in there, if youre headed out to nationals ballpark to check out the nats this evening. At 7 05. And so yellow weather alert today. We have some showers around, the lunch hour and then we will see some of this starting to break up a little bit closer to this evening. And unfortunately, the showers linger into early tomorrow morning. But it is not going to last long. I do see sunshine in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon. So the first wave, at 4 00 p. M. It is already starting to track from washington points east of that. And then the rest of this afternoon, into this evening, there is going to be more scattered showers, and it starts to pop up, move forecast the south and west and it will be unsettled. With a few areas where it is moderate to hera think this is a bit over done in coverage. But it is the general idea that we are going to stay unsettled, this afternoon. And evening. And so it is going to be a good time to keep your wusa 9 app on hand for sure. With it being unsettled. And there is the day planner. It is not a washout. But the rest of this afternoon and this evening, there is going to be time periods where are you going to see wet weather. All right.
