Hey, howard. Hey, mike. One thing i have been doing also on the wusa 9 weather app, i am following a little band of showers that is coming through right now. Thats why we have rain on the field. And the grounds crew, they are out working on the tarp. We had heavy rains earlier today. And boy, it was really coming down. About one to two hours ago. Lets take you back there and show you what is happening on the weather graphics because we had quite a bit of activity that came through with a Severe Thunderstorm Warning even with some high winds that went through with the storms, when they went through, eastern parts of the region, across prince georges and cal vert and anne arundel county. And now thing are much, much quieter and much better shape. Still, though, we will watch some showers that are coming in for the afternoon. So i am thinking the game gets played today. If you want to have maybe a little rain gear, take our weather app with you, and if you havent downloaded it already. Temperatures are sitting in the 50s for the most part. And im optimistic, that we are actually going to get a little bit of sunshine in between some of these showers. So ive got my sun glasses with me, as well. And the temperatures are going to make it in the lower 60s. Im th we might go to 64, 65, with a chance of a shower, though, on and off, throughout at least the first half of the game. We will see some clearing tonight. And hey, mike, we have more cold air coming in this weekend. I have some snow in the forecast. We will have that for you coming up in a few minutes. Right now, though, the nats are getting ready for opening day. And sunny or rainy. With more on that story, here is nick giovanni. Reporter yes, howard, i will tell you what, i sat down with the nationals principal owner mark learner this morning and he was telling me the club plans to do everything they possibly can to make sure this game goes on as planned. And knowing everything that went into making this day possible. As you mentioned, the crew, the grounds crew, out there, doing work right now, certainly a sign of at least some hope right now. Putting the nationals pursuit potentially on hold. Sitting down with the principal owner mark lerner, he hopes the opening game wont change the start, coming into the game a perfect 20. There are plenty of teams, like the golden teams like the cubs, we do our job and stay healthy, you know, we will get to the playoffs. So we are hoping for the best. And im excited about this team, with dustys leadership, we can go a long way. Tell you what, the leadership everyone is counting on, right now, is that of the grounds crew, as i mentioned, out on the field, as we speak. And got out there, about 30 minutes ago, when the rain started to at least let up for a little bit right now. And i mean it was coming down pretty hard here, about an hour ago. I would say there was certainly some it was ominous, and people were getting a little bit nervous here around the facility, but again, the grounds crew out here, doing some work here, hopefully they can take care of their baby, because that is what is it is obviously a fluid situation know, and we will keep you posted obviously on twitter on the mobile app and throughout the day with the special coverage. Other news now, dc police are looking for a gunman who kicked in a door, and shot a 6 yearold boy inside his home. This is on foot street in northeast. Right near eastern avenue. Ellen brian joins us with where this all happened. So ellen, what are police saying . Any description on a suspect so far . Reporter no description on a suspect but he got away in a gray suv and still searching for him right now. They say he shot a 6yearold boy, who was inside his apartment home, here in northeast. And at that time, Police Officers arrived on the e, complex, and they brought him to the hospital, and they say that his injuries though, are not lifethreatening. He was shot twice in the arm. And doctors have treated him and they tell us they actually already released him. And that he has already returned home. We have been in this neighborhood the last hour and a half, i have been talking to neighbors who live around here, and they say there are a lot of children who live here, they see them, including the little boy, who was shot riding their bicycles, up and down the street, and they are shocked, they are terrified and also grieving for the family or sad for the family, and praying for them today. Two bodies of water are being searched. The second one today. A team of 60 people working to find her. Rudd was eight years old when she went missing two years ago. She was living with her family at the dc general homeless shelter. Lat last seen with her alleged abductor kalil tatum, a janitor there and he has since died. No news on the development of the search. And a boy was murdered over a piece of birthday cake. The boys mother Oriana Garcia and his uncle jacob barajas, facing seconddegree murder charges. You see them there. They go on trial next month. The 31yearold Robert Wilson will spend the next 30 years in prison. Last week, he pled guilty to beating the boy to death. Happening today the woman at the center of the now debunked Rolling Stone report about rape at the university of virginia, she is going to testify. In the report, a woman who went by the name jackie, said she was gangraped. The article has since though been retracted but now uva administrator nicole arama is seeking 8 million in damages from Rolling Stone in a defamation lawsuit. The judge has now ruled that jackie must give a deposition in that case. They want to crack down on illegal dirt bikes. So Law Enforcement agencies from around the dc area are putting plans in place to do that. They are going to meet today to discuss their options. And dirt bikes are designated as offroad vehicles and in dc you are not allowed to ride them alongside cars on the street because they could be a major safety hazard. Montgomery county police made an arrest in the Sexual Assault of a Silver Spring woman. The investigators say this man, 19yearold Demarco Knight used a knife to threaten the woman and punched her in the face and stole her cell phone after the sexual attack. Knight was captured on surveillance cameras at the apartment complex before he was arrested. Police say they now know how two brothers may have pulled off one of the most elaborate lottery scams ever. Tommy tipton, a former texas justice of the peace, and his brother, are accused of taking [000 07 59;00] as josh elliot reports, they allegedly rigged six lottery jackpots in five state, and the game was 19 million. This is new to me. In my career, i have not seen anything quite like this. After eddie tipton was convicted in july, Police Received a tip about his brother tommy. Who purchased winning lottery tickets in colorado, in 2005, and oklahoma, in 2011. It is a flag. When you have the same individual winning in more than one state. Unlike Mega Millions and powerball, which use machines in their drawing, the tipton brothers allegedly targeted lotteries where winning numbers were selected by computers. Prosecutors say they discovered unauthorized codes on the computer in wisconsin. During drawings that fell on certain dates and times. The codes directed the computer numbers, but instead, to use an algorithm whose results could be predicted. Eddie tipton, a former Security Director at the multistate lottery association, had helped to build the computer. You know, the employee gets a security job to help protect a lottery system, figures out a way to hack the random algorithm, so that he can win the lottery, and he can pass those winnings on to his relatives, multiple times, it is pretty in ginous if you think about it. Eddie tiptons lawyer told cbs this morning that his client is confident he will eventually be exonerated while tommy tiptons Attorney Says his client will plead not guilty. But at least now, things have dried out nicely enough that we are in a much, much better shape. Lets see the forecast. For the rest of the day. And fortunately, we have a threat for showers. And as temperatures are going to struggle to get into those low 60s this afternoon. And the way it looks now, a little bit of a will go west, southwest, 10 to 15 miles an hour. And temperaturewise, well, only in the low to mid50s now but 30s in the mountains. A cold rain up there. And one of the things we are going to be watching, it is even more cold air moving in, as we head into the weekend. And right now, in washington, cloudy sky, and 56 degrees. So coming out to the ballpark, you might want to get something, a jacket, maybe a waterproof jacket, still with the threat for some spotty showers. On the satellite and radar, you can see that line of showers, we had, late this morning, and came through, fast, furious had, that Severe Thunderstorm Warning off to the east. And that is leaving us but behind us, over to the hero valley, west virginia, kentucky, ohio, more showers and the scattered showers are going to be with us as we get into the afternoon, hours, and even into the evening hours, the way it looks now.
