Fairfax county police tell aus 53yearold man from louden county came to the hospital with a self inflicted gunshot wound but the door to this entrance was locked. Thats when police say he fired a shot into the glass door, got inside and fired his weapon again. No one was hit. And Security Officers were able to subdue the man. And get him treated. We were called, all we heard was there is a gunshot wound in the e. R. So you go and you take care of it. Reporter it wasnt until after dave smith and a team of doctors and nurses treated him that they heard the whole story. Once we heard the story, you kind of move on, because you still have other patients to take care of. Reporter police have not said why this man started shooting in the first place. But for those who work here, it is another reminder of the world in which we live. It is very scary. Very scary. But in this just seems to be more common. It is not that surprising. Reporter the man was taken to Fairfax County hospital trauma center. The investigation is ongoing. At reston hospital, im nikki burdine, wusa 9. Now reston hospital is back to business as usual. And the name of the man with the gun has not been released at this point. Dc police are still investigating a deadly shooting in northwest. They found a man just before 9 00 last night on m street near first place. With gunshot wounds. He died a short time later at the hospital. People in the area are really shaken by this. The violence is very upsetting. It is unnerving. It is a sad thing that our Society Today has been so desensitized by being used to seeing this on a regular basis. People need to do something about the people who are shooting. Because it is little kids growing up, and they have to deal with it. The investigators dont have a suspect or a motive at this point. If you know anything about this shooting, please Prince Georges County executive Rashern Baker is talking publicly about the child pornography nightmare that is gripping his school district. 22yearold Deonte Carraway is accused of making videos of children engaged in sex actions while volunteering. At the elementary school. 10 children between the ages of 9 and 13 have been identified as victims. And county executive baker says he expects a thorough investigation into Deonte Carraways past. We want to make sure that we not only have the person, the young man we have arrested, today, but we will have anybody else who may be connected with this. Yet, the cdc fears it could only be a matter of time. We do think it is likely that we will have limited local transmission in some of the southern states. In the winter months now, we have a chance to really try to get ahead of this. In hardhit countries like peru, fumigation efforts on. Experts say wearing insect repellent is one way to avoid zika. Consumer reports recently tested 15 kinds. We found the insect repellent most effective against the type of mosquito that carries the zika virus, 20 precaretin and 20 deet. And tracking temperatures in canada, and alaska, this tells me a lot about where the cold is, and you can see it is on the north slope, North Central canada, but some of it has come down here, down towards big trout lake. And even into international falls, which is 6 below zero. So there is a lot of cold air up here what is coming down. And you can see why, with the satellite and look at all of the storms in the pacific. They are pushing milder air into western canada. Jet stream buckles up there. It takes a big dip. And you can follow it here. Look at these clouds, and the radar, almost due south from iowa through missouri. Thats a big dip in the jet stream allowing the cold air to come in. And with the cold, over the open lakes, we got a lot of lake effect snow, the upslope in the mountains, so our western mountains, the ski areas, they are going to get quite a bit of wind blown snow here over the next few days. And look at this thursday, though. A couple of snow showers possible here and there. Flurries. Winds relax a little bit thursday night, and friday, and here comes the arctic air mass, as we get in toward friday night, and saturday morning. Coming in, more mountain snow showers. And it is going to be some rough travel here if youre headed out to maybe some of the ski areas like wisp and seven springs. A good deal of snow. And things recovering into early next week.
