Hope is fading at finding survivors but french rescue teams did save a man who was trapped for 82 hours under the ruins of a threestory hotel in kathmandu. The team of 60 men and women landed in kathmandu tuesday and they brought with them search and rescue dogs with hopes of finding more survivors. The team is expected to stay in nepal for two weeks. A grilling today for those who are supposed to be protecting the capitol. Security officials are going before congressional lawmakers to explain how they determined a small jury row copter was not a gyrocopter was not a threat to the nations capitol when it flew through restricted air space earlier this month. Multiple weapons were aimed at the pilot douglas hughes. Joseph clancy with the secret service testified about a preliminary hearing with hughes. Basically what happens, towers use spotters to basically pounce on a car and get it out there without calling police and sometimes not okay at all. Let me give you a couple of examples. I got an email from a constituent who says roger, i have a rental car. I cant permanently affix my parking permit so i tape it. Towed three times because it was taped and not permanent. So they had the proper permit. They had the proper permit, towed three times. Somebody goes to a restaurant, parks in front of a laundromat that is closed after 5 00. They have a sign up that says no parking but theyre closed. Towed in a minute. Were talking fees that could be in excess of what . 168 and you normally have to take a taxi to get there. Its totally inconvenient and it sends people into a rage. Road rage has nothing on what happens to people. Tow rage. Tow rage, let me tell you. One other example. You go into a Shopping Center. You park in a Shopping Center parking lot. Your daughter goes in and you go across the street to cvs. Boom, in a minute you are towed. Its totally out of control, unscrupulous business practices. How do we fix it . One, we have legislation that says there cant be spotters. Two, you get authorization. I got an email from a policeman. Roger, what happens now . The tow truck operator calls the business and says i see a car in front of you, its not the way its supposed to work. Its the by thats supposed to call the tow truck operator so you have this built in financial incentive for a tow truck operator to do everything and everything anything and everything, including towing cars before Getting Police authorization.
