They tapped the phones of terror suspects who talked about carrying out a big jihad possibly against the vatican. The chief Prosecutor Says a wouldbe suicide bomber from pakistan arrived in rome in 2010 to target vatican city but did not go through with the attack. Officials believe the terror suspect wanted to strike a crowded area, not then pope benedict. Authorities say the same group of extreme is launched one of pakistans deadliest bombings the year before killing more than 100 people at a busy market. The vatican is downplaying the significance of the alleged plot with officials saying there is no cause for concern. Pope francis says he knows he can be a target. He fears for the innocent crowds who come to see him. Investigators are trying to find out what sparked a fire in northeast washington. Several businesses in the 3400 block of benning road suffered some significant damage from this. The road was closed this morning while firefighters fought to bring the flames under control. No injuries reported in the tire, though. The search is under way right now for suspects involved in a wild shootout. It all started when a member of the d. C. Fire department saw to suspects in two different cars shooting at each other. The ems captain followed one of the vehicles as it left the scene. One of itself suspects one of the sus speect suspects fired a weapon at the captain but he was not hit. The suspects in a white lexus crashed into another vehicle and then fled the scene. Were told two out of the three suspects sped toward Potomac Gardens projects. Fairfax county Sheriffs Office has now suspended the use of stun guns at the county jail. Our News Partners at the Washington Post report the move comes after the death of a mentally ill minute mate back in february. 37yearold Natasha Mckenna was shocked several times with a stun gun while she was restrained.
