Two sheriffs deputies have been shot and killed, after confronting an armed man in a restaurant. It happens in abingdon, north of baltimore. Witnesses say one was shot while responding to a disturbance at a panera bread restaurant. The gunmen fled. A second deputy managed to track down the man. He was killed during an exchange of gunfire. The suspect also shot and killed a short time later. This is a traumatic day for us. But we give thanks for those two deputies that made the ultimate sacrifice for our citizens. And we just asked the county to come together as we lift up and protect their families as we go forward. Investigators have not released the names of the two killed deputies. Were told that one was a 30 year veteran of the department. The other had been on the forces for 16 years. The shooter is identified tonight as 67yearold david brian evans. The other was a criminal warrant that had been issued in the state of florida for assaulting a Police Officer.
