Remembering alone. Hundreds of people flocked to the Vietnam Memorial to pay their respects and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. I know its a cliche to say freedom isnt free. Everybody says it all the time and you say it without thinking because its a cliche. When you sit in front thereafter wall and see all those names front of that wall and see all those names, you realize what the cost of freedom is. That was ellison barber reporting. This fathers day they will celebrate the 25th anniversary with a ceremony at the memorial. This memorial day weekend wrapped up with a crowd favorite, the National Memorial day parade. Reporter this parade is always the highlight of the memorial day weekend and for one family who spent years at walter reed, it was a day to remember. The parade kicked off under bright skies with Service Members, marching bands and dancers. No one ever anticipated little a. J. Causey would be here to witness it. I had pretty much been told by the doctors due to my injuries probably never center a child naturally. Reporter a. J. s father aaron was on a military bomb squad in afghanistan in 2011. He was searching for an ied he planned to disarm. I was looking for it when i stepped on it. Reporter aaron lost both legs and recently completed three years of treatment at walter reed. Doctors said he and his wifes only realistic chance of getting pregnant was through ivf, in vitro fertilization. I was speechless. Reporter speechless because just days later before they could even get to their first ivf appointment cat was pregnant. A. J. Is now a happy, healthy 16 monthold who is obviously keeping her parents very busy. After their three years at walter reed the couple recently moved home to alabama. A young rockville boy is recovering this evening after he nearly drowned in a neighborhood pool today. Montgomery county fess fire and rescue says the boy is 5 or 6 years old and went underwater and did not come back. Doug pierce, the father at the pool with his three children, noticed that boy, jumped in and pulled him out. Pierce and a nurse there with her two kids, performed cpr until that boy regained consciousness and was taken to the hospital. There were two lifeguards on duty, but pierce says its the parents that have to watch the kids anyway. You got to have your eyes on your kids and there was a lot of family that was around this child, but its got to be personal like one person has to be responsible for one child. The boy is doing better tonight but still has a tough journey ahead. Thats one lucky child. Those four people were released uncharged and without any kind of public explanation unless police are still trying to make a case against them, but the Court Documents make it clear its thought daron wint must have had help before beating and stabbing the adults and stabbing and burning to death 10yearold phillip savopoulos. Detective opponents wrote the crimes required the presence and assistance of more than one person. Former fbi criminal profiler Mary Ellen Otoole says investigators may need to look for someone who has invaded homes before. Most people if theyre inside a strangers home would be upset. You see offenders who stayed in that home for multiple hours, 10 or 12 hours, and during that period of time theyre involved with inflicting extreme damage to these victims.
