500 fine he received for just one trip. It was a mistake. Bob cowen is a disabled veteran who lives in hay market. He had not heard of the express lanes when he mistakenly got on them just one time a year and a half ago. It was a large postcard. He says when he called the number on the postcard the person told him to disregard the notice, so he did. Then this past december he received two summons from transurban which runs the express lanes. I was there one time. The only one time i took that lane, and never take it again. So this is crazy. That was an expensive ride. It was. 503, yes. The second summons added a 250 civil penalty for a second violation just 4 minutes after the first one. And then a year and a half later when he is in frail health he receives summons asking for outrageous penalties. They waited and they seemed to have a business motive. Theirtheyre waiting and letting people rack up more debt and its a for profit business. He cons vinceed the judge to dismiss the case because it violated the oneyear statute of limitations. He says thats one of many problems. A scam. I mean somebody is just doing this to make money, and they dont care about the person of the effect on their lives or anything else. Cop and pastor who is facing four counts of sexually assaulting teenagers. Turns out hes been in trouble before but nothing as bad as this. Reporter there was a previous allegation of Sexual Misconduct against officer darrell best and that it was serious enough to get him demoted but not seriously enough to get him fired. Darrell best has been a cop for 25 years, and we now know hes been in trouble before these latest allegations. Two Law Enforcement sources say best had been promoted to sergeant and then demoted back down to officer following an allegation of Sexual Misconduct possibly at the d. C. Police academy. A Police Spokeswoman and the d. C. Police union declined to comment on the earlier allegation saying it was a personnel matter. But best is now facing four new counts of sexually assaulting two different teenagers. One says best assaulted her three times at his southeast d. C. Church where he is founder and senior pastor. A then 17yearold says best took her to his fifth floor office at Police Headquarters and climbed on top of her. The younger teens father confronted best and he began to cry allegedly and apologized, but did not confess. Best had been assigned to the fourth district, but his commander took him with her to headquarters as an administrative aide when she was promoted to assistant chief. The secret service is conducting a third test othe white house to determine whether it contained cyanide. The first tests came back negative. New research from the American Heart Association shows many hispanic americans at high risk for cardiovascular disease. In a study that tracked more than 500 hispanic americans experts found nearly 78 were considered metabolically unhealthy meaning they either have high blood pressure, high blood sugar or both. Those risk factors were also found to have an even bigger effect on the hardened arteries than obesity does. Experts call for more nutrition and exercise programs within the latino community.
