Protesters filed through the mall peacefully, some holding up their hands and others carrying signs that said black lives matter. Organizers had given mall management advance notice. Theres a chance for icy spots in the mountains, but in the immediate metro its just going to be rain and rain showers with milder breezy conditions on sunday with more rain. That search was called off early thursday due to poor weather conditions. Crews have yet to locate much of the wreckage at the bottom of the java sea. 12 bodies have been recovered meaning 150 remain missing. The weather is blamed for much of the delay and the black boxes are still out there somewhere. The high seas are keeping searchers from hearing the pings. You need real calm or silence in order to do that. Otherwise you will interfere with the other signal or other noise. Experts say it could take another week to recover those black boxes. And a woman is shot twice in her own home, coming up why the towns police chief is now placed on administrative leave. Also the the wife of a Georgia Police chief is in Critical Condition after she was shot twice inside her home. It happened early this morning in Peachtree City about 30 miles from atlanta. The police chief William Mccollom called 911 to report hed accidentally shot his wife twice. No charges have been filed and its not clear what led to the shooting. I say boohoo, but record cold, i can understand that. Its a shock to the system. We are going to get an arctic blast next week, so lets enjoy the relatively milder temperatures the next three days. Unfortunately this weekends milder temperatures come at a price, so we cant win. Lets start with a live look outside, our live michael and son weather cam, the capitol here for you and some pretty chilly temperatures, 42 degrees. Its still not bad, though. Our average high this time of year is 44, so could be a lot colder, winds out of the south at 10 miles per hour. The dew point is in the teens. In our weather headlines well see a few clouds arrive tonight, not as cold as last night. Last night was just absolutely frigid. Some of us dipped into the teens. That will not be the case tonight. As we head into friday, less sunshine, more cloud cover, but its still dry. We dont have any rain until saturday afternoon for most of the metro area. As we head into sunday, more rain arrives and thats when it will be the mildest. Sunday is the mildest day, but unfortunately, of course, we have the rain at the same time that we have milder temperatures. Were down in the 30s in much of the metro area, 37 in leesburg and frederick, gaithersburg and up in york as well, 42 now in fredericksburg and 39 degrees in annapolis. On our satellite and radar map you can see the clear skies will go by the wayside with some cloud cover approaching from the west. This is not the same cloud cover thats going to bring us the rain. Thats still hundreds of miles away. On 9 futurecast well see that cloud cover make its approach saturday, but friday the system is still tracking to the south of us. This storm track will lift it to us as we head into saturday. Here comes the shield of rain. Its in the Morning Hours that were still dry, but as we head into the afternoon, showers start to push through. Notice a tiny blip of pink there. The mountains could see icy accumulations in the morning as the system arrives on saturday, but even that will get washed away as milder temperatures arrive. In the afternoon we still have the rain moving through in the metro area and more rain and you can see the reds and oranges here kaeding the potential of some down indicating the potential of some downpours, maybe even a rumble of thunder saturday night into sunday. Sunday more of that activity continues to push through. It starts to get spottier, but thats an indication of the cold front making its way through with a strong push of milder air. It will be breezy with the milder temperatures sunday. Overnight tonight not the case. Its going to be dry and the winds will be relatively calm, down to 22 in the suburbs tonight, 30 downtown, winds west 5 to 10 miles per hour. Friday morning temperatures in the 20s and 30s, partly cloudy skies, winds out of the west at 10 miles per hour. Then in the afternoon high temperatures between 45 and 50, so a little milder than average, still dry, but it will be mostly cloudy. On saturday the showers arrive for most of us in the afternoon, but as i mentioned in the mountains especially to the south and west of the beltway theres potential for a little ice. On sunday more showers arrive and it gets much milder with a high of 55. In the first alert sevenday forecast here comes that chill i was talking about before, high temperatures in the 30s for the entire workweek as you head the kids back to school for the first time this year. Certainly didnt cause any problems for the winter classic today. No. They had plenty of sun, but the game just went on.
