Sources tell us the man who was shot yesterday by dc police was high on pcp. Investigators say the officer fired her gun after being confronted by a man who was armed. He was carrying a large hunting style knife. The officer fired in self defense. Officially police wont say whether or not drugs played a role in the shooting but if pcp was involved as sources at the us, that would be the third recent high profile shooting involving d. C. Police and the drug. A recent study by the office of National Drug control policy shows d. C. Has more people using pcp than in any other major city. 12 of men arrested in d. C. Had the drug in their system. To compare, in new york city, only 1. 9 . Officers say when people are on this drug, it makes doing their job even more difficult. When you ingest it, you can become uncontrollably violent and in another state of mind. Theyre demanding the phone records and other documents involving former california congressman gary condit. Condit had had an affair with the washington intern before she vanished in 2001. Levys body was found a year late near rock creek park. Police eventually ruled condit out as a suspect. Guandique was later charged and convicted. But a judge ordered a retrial because a key prosecution witness lied on the stand. A plea bargain is expected today in the case of a man accused of g a gyrocopter on u. S. Capitol grounds. Investigators now say a Southern California policeman killed yesterday was the victim of a botched robbery. Ricardo galvez was on the Downey Police force. Investigators say he was out of uniform and didnt have his gun on him when he was shot to death. Authorities say the three suspects in the case didnt realize he was a Police Officer and now all three of them are under arrest. Tensions continue in minneapolis where two people were arrested during overnight protests over that Police Shooting death of jamar clark. Meanwhile it remained mostly peaceful last night. Minneapolis congressman Keith Ellison even spoke to protesters. He urged all sides to remain peaceful. Were motivated out here tonight by love, by compassion, and by a burning desire for justice. One of the protesters main demands is that investigators release video of the fatal shooting. Authorities say video will not be released while the investigation is ongoing. 6 18.
