Police are investigating four separate shootings. We begin with a deadly shooting in southeast. It happened just after 9 30 last night. A woman was shot at alabama avenue and good hope road. She was taken to the hospital but doctors were not able to save her. Police are now looking for a suspect on a dirt bike. Thats [indiscernible] so far police have not connected any of those shootings. A man who appeared on an mtv reality show is behind bars accused of making terror threats against metro stations. Jerez coleman is accused of making 11 calls reporting bomb threats or hostage situations. We take each one of these threats seriously and through a lot of investigative efforts well find you. Investigators say the threats included plans to take hostages on a metro bus for a 15 million ransom. The centers for Disease Control is investigating a potentially deadly mistake by the u. S. Military. Pentagon Officials Say live anthrax bacteria was accidentally shipped to labs in as many as nine states. Reporter close to 2000 people at a you u. S. Air force base in south korea are under preventive medical care. Theyre getting vaccines and taking antibiotics after possible anthrax exposure. Authorities took action after being notified by the pentagon that live anthrax samples were inadvertently shipped from one of its military labs in utah. The samples were supposed to be inactive. No known risk to the general public and theres no suspected or corn firmed cases of confirmed cases of anthrax. Reporter it was part of a Defense Program to develop new ways to identify biological threats. Along with the lab in south korea, labs in nine states received the samples. They include maryland, texas, wisconsin, delaware, new jersey, tennessee, new york, california and virginia. At least four lab workers here in the United States have been told to take antibiotics. The pentagon first learned of the mistake when a lab in maryland informed them they had received a live sample last week. The cdc has started to confiscate the samples for testing. The second mistake in shipment of live anthrax in a year. Last union more than 80 people june more than 0 people may 80 people may have been exposted when a cdc lab sent it by mistake. The county council is scheduled to vote on a new budget, one that will make homeowners happy because that 50 15 property tax hike is off the table and they will discuss and vote on the issue today in chambers. At the 11th hour county executive Rushern Baker backed out of the proposal which faced heavy opposition. The new plan calls that any tax increase last only five years. However, the county executive still wants to fund the chronically low performing School System. So instead of the 133 million in school funds that would have come from the 15 property tax increase, the county executive is asking for 56 million to help pay for arts, family support, Teacher Retention and the expansion of universitial prek. If youre going to have a serious compromise that you want to benefit kids, you cannot increase property tax at all without having a conversation about accountability, transparency and performance metrics. Investigators say two women plotted to rob a married capitol hill attorney and he ended up dead at the Donovan Hotel. Those women are expected in court later today. Police say the victim used craigslist to find a man to have a sexual hookup with and one of the women answered that ad posing as a man. Police say 19yearold Dominique Johnson and her live in girlfriend 21yearold Jamyra Gallmon are charged in connection with the death of 30 yearold David Messerschmitt. The couple bought zip ties at a cvs here the Donovan Hotel just before messerschmitts murder last february. Zip ties were found on the victims hands. Johnson cave when they showed her surveillance video. Shes now out on bond after pleading not guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery. Gallmon is behind bars accused of stabbing messerschmitt to death. This is not the first time nor the last time that youve all seen either a Family Member or significant other of somebody whos accused of a crime charged in conjunction with that. Reporter police say gallmon stole 40 and a metro card from the victim and prosecutors say that johnson then used that stolen metro card. Instead of 130 million for schools that would have come from the unpopular tax hike, the county executive is asking for 65 million to help pay for universal prek and Teacher Retention. The plan also calls for any tax hike to last only five years. This 65 million is the minimum investment we can make that will move us forward and significantly improve our ranking in the state. Any investment, any investment left less than that will not move the needle. Reporter but at least one School Board Member goes on the record saying this is a bad plan. He doesnt feel like any taxes should be increased to fund the School System until he says theres accountability and transparency. Get this. Police say the victim used craigslist to find a man to have a sexual hookup with and one of the suspects responded to the ad posing as a man. She was taken to the hospital where she later died. Police are looking for a suspect on a dirt bike there. Were three other shootings in southeast at other locations.
