A house fire drove two people out into the arctic temperatures this morning in Montgomery County. The fire broke out on rustle road in the cabin russell road in the cabin john neighborhood. Investigators believe some discarded fireplace ashes played a role. No one was hurt. The alarm alerted the people inside and they got out safely. On days when its this cold its important to stay inside if possible and cover every inch of skin with some form of clothing the you have to go out. If you have to go out. Prosecutors portrayed the former first lady as a lonely housewife who had a crush on a virginia business man. She accepted his lavish loans and gifts all in secret and was described by an employee as a quote nut job. Believe it or not that could actually have helped the defense. You see, they argue Maureen Mcdonnell has been vilified throughout the trial and not as responsible as her husband. An elected official who should have known better. She was later tasered and cleared for transport but sometime later she suffered a medical emergency and ended up on life support. Mckenna died february 8th after being removed if life support. Theyll be happy with probation and maybe 4,000 hours of community service. They say the humiliation maureen suffered throughout the six week trial is punishment enough. The former first lady was convicted of eight counts of corruption for accepting 177,000 in loans and vacations and gifts from a virginia businessman. One thing that the defense does have going for them . Maureen will be sentenced today by the same judge who sentenced her husband. Former governor Bob Mcdonnell received a much shorter two year sentence. We spoke to a juror to get her impression of maureens role.
