A driver post add photo on twitter posted a photo on twitter of a transasia plane hitting the bridge as it crashed into the water. Rescuers have spent hours pulling 58 passengers and crew off the plane. So far 15 people are known dead. The crash happened just after airport takeoff from the airport in taipei. No word yet on what may have caused it. At least seven people are dead after a metronorth commuter train slammed into an suv that was stopped on the trucks in valhalla, new york. Thats roughly 30 miles north of manhattan. The victims include the driver of that suv and six people on the train who were in the front car. 12 other passengers were injured. When i heard the extent of the damage to the first car and i saw it had burned completely, i couldnt even imagine how many people were in there that had lost their lives. The crash led to an explosion and a fire which burned the front train car. Some passengers were able to escape those front cars by jumping into the snow below. They immediately apologized, locked that site, and issue add statement in part saying that we understand how important it is to safeguard student information and will conduct a toptobottom review of our security practices to ensure this does not happen again. And certainly parents, students and teachers hope this never happens again either. We can tell you that School Leaders tell us there is no evidence that any of this information was compromised. The president of the state Education Association says the plan apartments to roughly amounts to roughly 144 million in reductions. Students and their families for the situation, and well be reaching out to families to explain what happened. At least seven people are dead after a commuter train slammed into an suv in upstate new york. The victims include the driver of that suv and six other people on the train. 12 passengers were injured. Don champion reports. Reporter more than an hour after the deadly collision, smoke still billowed from the front car of the metronorth train headed to suburban new york from the heart of manhattan at rush hour tuesday evening. The train never made it to its destination. Investigators say it crashed into a Jeep Cherokee stopped under a gate on the tracks triggering an explosion and fire. The third rail of the track came up from the explosion and went right through the car. Reporter hundreds of commuters were on board at the time. When i heard the extent of the damage to the first car and i saw it had burned completely, i couldnt even imagine how many people were in there that had lost their lives. Reporter others escaped the charred front cars of the train by jumping into the snow below. You get out of the train, its freezing cold out and you realize how fortunate you are. Reporter even in the overnight hours, investigators could be seen going in and around the train. Meantime service on the rail line where the accident happened has been suspended. Metronorth is the nations second largest Commuter Rail line and serves close to 300,000 riders in new york and connecticut a day. Shuttle buses will now be used to transport commuters in the area. A Virginia State senator whos the chief sponsor of legislation which would loosen state oversight of dominion virginia powers rates has sold his shares in the company. Senator thank wagner said he didnt want frank wagner said he didnt want any suggestion he was lying about profits from the legal. Critics claim the bill will [ inaudible ] two other lawmakersle own shares of dominion power. Today a Maryland State Senate committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on legislation which would increase the states tobacco tax. The additional revenue could help fill gaps in Health Care Coverage for pregnant women and contribute dollars toward overfall Public Health care needs.
