Thank you for coming in this morning. One of the things i found interesting when i was reading the information leading up to the interview is Prince Georges County really played a significant part in saving the union and really overall the birth of our nation to keep things going. Prince georges county is home to a real depend pt of history, but in particular with this particular war, which is a very forgotten war in many regards, the state of maryland has been pulling together a lot of activities in the chesapeake area. Prince georges county was where the british actually landed. All the way through Upper Marlboro and bladensburg before going to washington. The british were all over the county and Fort Washington where the fort was blown up. The county was very important and played a role in the writing of the star spangled banner there. Was a man who was arrested and taken to baltimore which is why Francis Scott key went there to seek his release. Thats when the white burned. Yes. A statewide effort to celebrate a fact that we stood strong here in maryland to try to keep our union intact. Thats right. Thats what the battle of bladensburg is all about. I its part of the chess eke campaign. In chesapeake campaigning. In baltimore, were hoping to have a Family Friendly event. Whats happening in baltimore . It will be tall ships. Theyll have the blue angels. They have a lot of money to be able to throw at t. Our particular program weve got some d. C. Food trucks. Weve got a very large battle that will happen around 3 00. Boat tours, trolley tours, all kinds of people. We have coldfired forages and all those neat historic things.
