This morning the president tweeted that he is so busy its not possible for his surrogate to be perfectically accurate. Cbs news chief washington correspondent John Dickerson here to take us through some of this. So how is that possible that they cant be accurate all the time . Have they tried to walk that back any at all . Frankly its mind blowing. It is odd. Usually the state of play is because the president is quite busy and things are very complicated and not everybody has perfect knowledge. Usually thats what makes it hard to get anything out of the white house. They often say things i dont know, i dont have anything for you on that. I have to get back to you on that. Or any number of versions of i cant tell you anything. And that is fine. That is fine. As long as the information is correct. That has been the usual practice ive covered the white house and in the past. So it is odd that the president wrote this tweet usually you just dont Say Something if you havent checked it with the president. So when that was used an excuse as to why there have been shifting stories as to why the president did fire director comey, that is not normal. That is not the norm. It does raise questions. Maybe printing things out would reduce the confusion. But presumably if things had been printed on paper on monday they would still be inconsistent with the story that had changed and that wouldnt change things.
