This footage, all recorded by d. C. Police officers, the night of june 27th, on barnham street in northeast. Police were responding to a call about a man with a gun. They spent several minutes, ordering him to drop the weapon. He refused. Officers shot the man, killing him. The weapon, turned out to be a bb gun. Killed, was 63yearold Sherman Evans of northeast. The shooting is under investigation by the Police Department internal affairs bureau, and the u. S. Attorneys office. D. C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said she authorized the release of effort to make government more transparent. And policing more accountable in the district. Only on 9 tonight, there could be a problem, with some new equipment being installed by metro. Wusa 9 has learned from the agencys new chief Safety Officer that metro is investigating whether or not new insulators are working properly. After this explosive incident at the federal stop in y. Ma metro ceo paul wedefeld ordered to speed up replacing old insulators on the electric rail. Those prevent electricity from escaping. And when they go back, smoke and fire instants like this can happen. Last friday, metro announced that all of the porcelain insulators at underground platforms had been replaced with safer, heat resistant, fiberglass. While a man was drying from a gunshot wound. I cant imagine someone driving an ems truck, okay, an ambulance, and not knowing how to get to the hospital. Thats patrice hall, less than 24 hours after her 23year old son, sekwan hall was shot and killed. It happened saturday morning, along 1st street, in alexandria, near route 1. When his mother arrived, she the front seat of the ambulance that was transporting her son. I kept yelling in the back, breathe, sekwan. During the ride, medics got a pulse. The decision was made to change direction and head instead to George Washington hospital. That follows protocol for an emergency like this. But thats also when the confusion started. They leave first street, going on braddock road. They get to commonwealths avenue and stop in the middle of the street. The driver was a rookie firefighter emt. And the confusion led him to trade places. Another First Responder got behind the wheel and finished the trip to gw, and thats where hall died due to his injuries. The fire chief confirms the story and blames what he says was a thirdsecond delay on the drivers inexperience. The total transport time, from when they first left the scene to when they got to gw was 11 minutes. Reporter at this point, they learned the driver had 3 months of training work before driving. They said he did the right thing by stopping. I am not okay. I wont be okay for a long time. There were a total of four First Responders on board that ambulance. We asked if this would lead to changes in policies for rookie drivers. He said this is could. But noted this is one of the reasons why they have two firefighters and two medics riding in the ambulance. The chief added, he didnt know whether the delay made a difference. A driver involved in a hit and run crash. A pedestrian was seriously hurt, when they were hit by a car this morning near the intersection of first sterling avenue in southeast. The crash happened around 3 40 in the morning. The driver took off. Police say the victim was hurt. But will be okay. A Falls Church Family is out of their home tonight because of a fire.
