I can see where the cops are coming in and someone on the ground in a black uniform trying to get resuscitated. Reporter but anderson had already raced off in his honda allegedly shooting repeatedly at officers before they finally rammed his car outside an h street restaurant. We heard people in the restaurant saying get down. Everybody get on the floor. There was definitely gunfire happening back and forth and so i crawled. We were kind of hiding behind the bar and i crawled to the door, the glass door on the side, and locked it. Reporter those were a couple of teachers from colorado, could not believe what they saw here on h street. Police had h street shut down as late as this morning to continue to collect ed, but it is back open now. Evidence, but it is back open now. They oped two hours later today, this a day after just a crazy scene played outer here that the Census Bureau director called both tragic and scary. Thursday nights chaos gave way to fridays calm at the Census Bureau. I usually see him when the s. W. A. T. Team came in getting dressed. They had their whole full outfits. Reporter the Census Bureau worker saw 59yearold Security Guard Lawrence Buckner moments after alleged gunman and kidnapper 48yearold Ronald Anderson drove into the complex and shot him thursday night. He lived in virginia, married to his wife 36 years, has one son, four grandkids, a large family and worked at the bureau four years. Many of the hundreds of employees locked down in the building or in their cars thursday night didnt have to come to work today. I didnt want to catch nothing flying nowhere. I got too much to live for, just got married a couple years ago, just bought a house. Reporter the fbi says the bureau wasnt targeted, though its not clear why anderson came here. The fbi is deciding whether to pursue federal charges against anderson. Anne Arundel County Police are busy searching for a man they say tried to kill one of their officers this morning. Ellison barber is live in anne arundel with the latest for us. Good evening, ellison. Reporter good evening. That officer was in surgery earlier today, but one source said hes out of surgery now. The only thing we know officially now is the officer remains in Critical Condition. Police say they are looking for a black male between the ages of 20 and 30, about 5 4 or up to 5 8 wearing dark pants, not jeans and a dark hoodie, but beyond that they arent saying very much. Were kind of waiting around to hear some more. This 7eleven is carrying on as usual. Its a dramatically different scene from what we saw a few hours ago when police swarmed the area after one of their officers was shot. Police say that shortly after 2 a. M. The officer stopped by this 7 eleven for no particular reason and then someone told him there was a suspicious man outside of the store. The officer went to speak with that guy and some kind of struggle began. They both ran on foot away from the 7eleven. At that time witnesses describe hearing a gunshot. Reporter when other officers got here, they found the officer on the side of the road way gunshot wound in with a gunshot wound in his chest. The officer is in Critical Condition at shock trauma. The suspect is still on the run. We dont have a suspect in custody and dont know where that suspect is. Reporter its a scary thought for some residents. He could be wandering around somewhere and we dont even know. So yeah, thats very conditioning. Reporter they say its normally quiet here. I had to go to baltimore this morning and when i left, i got stopped by the police and i had to ask them to let me go because they had everything roped off and blocked off. Reporter when we got here, it was filled with police activity, but we havent seen any police in the past few hours. About three hours ago we did see one detective right in this area behind me. He was with one other Anne Arundel Police officer. They were looking around in that area near the yellow triangle sign. That is where the officer was reportedly found wounded this morning. Police say they have cleared this area, but they dont have details where the suspect may be now. They say this investigation is very much still ongoing. Police say this is a very fluid and active investigation as ellison just mentioned. They have not released the name of the injured officer but do say he is a veteran of the force. A Fairfax County Police Officer is under investigation for child pornography. Our Virginia Bureau chief peggy fox broke this story today on twitter and joins us now live from Fairfax Police headquarters with the latest. Peg, this started with one investigation and sort of pivoted in a totally different way. Reporter this officer is a well known and long time member of the force and at 1 time during his career time told that he served as a Student Resource officer stationed at a school. Yesterday he was escorted out of this building and relieved of his duties while the investigation into alleged child pornography continues. Sources tell me that this officer was not a target of the investigation but that the Fairfax Police departments child crimes unit which searches for sex offenders online stumbled upon their own officer. We are not naming him because no charges have been filed against him. However, sources close to the investigation tell me charges are forthcoming. The news that a fellow officer is under investigation for child pornography comes as a shock to this Police Department. This is not the only Fairfax County Police Officer under investigation for a major crime right now. Commonwealth attorney ray murrow is determining whether to file charges against adam torres. Hes the Police Officer who shot and killed unarmed john geer at his home as he took in his doorway with his arms up. In that case the Police Department and the county was strongly criticized for not releasing information. Police arrested a secret service officer. Officer Arthur Baldwin was arrested early today in northeast on a felony charge of first degree attempted burglary and destruction of property. A baltimore man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a drunk driving crash that kill an alexandria man. That accident happened last year along lee highway in rosslyn. Prosecutors say ahman leo crashed his car into a jeep. He pled guilty to aggravated dui and manslaughter and after sentencing the victims family announced they were filing a 20 million lawsuit. The family will also seek legislation to make bars and restaurants liable for overserving customers. The Virginia Medical Examiners Office ruled Madison Smalls death was from natural causes. Surae chinn is live in ashburn to show us how fellow students remembered her today. Reporter it was very touching, jan. Meanwhile Loudoun County health says there is no over case of meningitis in the county. They say there is a low risk of it spreading. Theyve identified the people who came in close contact with madison small, mainly her family and some friends. Meanwhile here at her School Students are trying to get back to a sense of normalcy. In a big show of support broad run High School Students and faculty wore pink today to remember High School Senior madison small who died tuesday from neisseria sepsis that can cause a type of bacterial meningitis. Her softball teammates held up a banner we play for no. 24, the same hashtag and phrase used on social media. A teacher tweets showing our support for madison. Neighboring Loudoun County schoolin pink. Bacterial meningitis is a very serious infection as opposed to viruses, its much harder for the body to fight it off. Reporter the Loudoun County Health Director dr. David goodfried said bacterial meningitis is not easily spread and the school is at low risk because students were off on spring break when madison suddenly became ill monday and died the next day. She was one of the sweetest people ive ever met and she was in my spanish last year. Shell always be remembered and missed. Reporter bacterial meningitis is spread through close contact in the home or room, sharing drinks or any bodily discretion. It is unlikely well every know who got madison sick. The bacteria itself exists in our community. The large majority of people who have that bacteria will never get sick, but it may be in the back of their throats. So we likely will never find out who that person was who spread it because that person probably is not having any problems at all. Just one case is horrific for the family. Reporter antibiotics have been made viable for her family and some of her friends. Available for some of her family and some of her friends. Bacterial meningitis is becoming more rare because vaccines are available and Health Officials recommend you get vaccinated at age 11 and a booster at 16. The last case of bacterial meningitis was two years ago in the county and Madison Smalls funeral is monday. Back to you. Symptoms of bacterial meningitis include stiff neck, fever, sensitivity to light and headache. Health officials encourage anyone with those symptoms to call their doctor. Reporter Blue Bell Creameries has recalled more than 25 products in the last month over listeria concerns and now sabra is recallingist classic hummus because of possible listeria contamination. Eating foods contaminated with listeria can cause an infection which includes fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea and it can be deadly. I feel really good about it. Also in all seriousness i thought this was a good time because weve got a Campaign Year coming up and i wanted my successor to have plenty of time to kind of get comfortable in in seat before we get into a kin in this seat before we get into a Campaign Year.
