Reporter police say i started when a patient alleged that 37yearold traveling nurse klein rubbed the hand on they called police and they fired him right away. The question is, how was he able to allegedly do this several more times at several more hospitals. He is innocent and we look forward to his being exonerated. Reporter after the hospital fired the 37yearold traveling nurse may of 2013, the hospital called police, and the d. C. Board of nursing tells wusa 9 that g. W. Did not inform them of the incident and they did not start an investigation until after another patient came forward seven months later and that patient she came to the er because she was intoxicated and told police he touched her inappropriately similar to how the patient at g. W. Said he touched her. He was fired and informed the board. Reporter tell us why the plea deal . Reporter less than a month later, a female patient told police he did the same thing to her. The hospital placed him on their do not return list and two weeks later Prince Georges County Police Issued a warrant for his arrest. Still, he is getting nursing jobs. In august 2014 a female patient at United Medical center tells police that he touched her inappropriately several times and kissed her on the lips. It took them nine months to investigate these complaints. Reporter anything to say to your wife about this . Reporter he wouldnt answer questions today and his lawyers said repeatedly hes innocent. He was offered a plea deal to plead guilty to the three d. C. Charges and they would drop a charge that just came to light and cap his jail time. He said no. Hell be act on may 19th to answer the d. C. Charges. You may wonder why didnt g. W. University hospital inform the board of nursing, and we asked and they would not answer. Police say they are not required to inform the board. He also faces that one charge in Prince Georges County. The d. C. Board of nursing says hospitals are required to report Health Professionals terminated due to unsafe practices. Investigators are looking into a commuter train that crashed and injured at least 28 people in southern california. This train collided with a truck pulling a trailer earlier this morning, and five cars jumped the tracks. Investigators say the train was going about 79 mph but the conductor saw the truck on the tracks and was therefore able to slow down before the collision. Reporter the conductor of the train noticed the car early and the flashing lights and was able to establish the emergency protocol early, emergency braking early. Police found the driver of that truck about a mile away from the crash not hurt but apparently disoriented. Police are still trying to sort out exactly what happened but according to some reports the driver told the officers that the truck got stuck on the tracks so he got out and ran away and dialed 911. For the second sometime in about 12 hours a drive has struck and injured a Virginia State police trooper. This was this afternoon around 2 00. The trooper in the middle of a traffic stop on i66 just inside the beltway and thats when one vehicle ran off the road and collided with those cars on the shoulder. That trooper is being treated for serious but nonlifethreaten injuries. Three other people are recovering from nonlifethreatening injuries as well. L an out of control driver crashed into this individual with his suv. Hes out of the hospital and recovering from serious but nonlifethreatening injuries. An individual was charged with reckless driving. The history continues where somebody riding in one car opened fire on another car and at this our police are not sure who did it or why. We have been following up on this throughout the day and we have more. Scott . Reporter well, police out here think that this was in some way a targeted attack. They just dont have any idea what the motive could have been. From sky 9, the boulevard was shut down after somebody in one vehicle opened fire on the lone driver of a white honda pilot at 7 20 this morning. Down below, glass still littering the street. The victim and the suspect were driving right behind us down the boulevard. Reporter they said the victim just gassed up at this costco and was making a left turn out of the mall when somebody in another car just started shooting. There was no interaction. The victim was leaving that area. Theres a light to exit them onto the boulevard and thats where we understand the first place of this suspect was. They both turned onto the boulevard and thats when the shots rang out, for whatever reason. Reporter the victim was hit by either broken glass or bullet fragments but he was okay. He fled to a residence where a relative called police because the victim does not speak english. It was at least 20 minutes after the fact before police got there to investigate. The victim in yesterdays fatal crash was just 27 years of age. They identified him as snodgrass. We got ahold of the Police Report and we have the details. We have the Police Report that says there was more than possible speeding involved. The Police Report on yesterdays fatal crash does not name the driver but it says a man in his 30s with a tattoo of the Washington Monument on his chest is responsible for the death of 12yearold snodgrass, and not only that, the report says the driver is suspected of using drugs. We obtained a copy of that report today that says the victim is from the baltimore area. The crash was so loud here that some heard it from inside this federal building. There was a loud noise inside the building. You cant really suspect things like that, so you hope and pray you are not there when stuff like that happens. Reporter the owner of this restaurant across the street saw it and says he and his employees ran to help. There was nothing you could do. You had to wait for paramedics and the police to show up, which they did quickly. Its terrible. Reporter we learned the driver was supposed to be arraigned in court today and hes facing involuntary manslaughter. Wusa 9 news. Police tell us chandler is 33 years old. They will no longer use a bill to fund the Home Security department, using it as a tool to block immigration reform. The changes failed a fourth test vote in the senate. A standalone bill was there, allowing the congress to consider a separate bill for funding Homeland Security. My preference remains with a legislation thats already passed the house and its the simplest way forward, but as long as democrats prevent us from debating that bill, im ready to try another way. They have until friday to funds the Homeland Security department and if they dont come through, some 30,000 employees will be furloughed and essential workers will have to stay on the job but theyll do it without any pay.
