A house at the front where i am looks fine. But looking down, you can see the incredible damage that occurred here this afternoon. This is the line of storms that topper just described. Came through this section of Silver Spring at about 2 15 this afternoon doing lots and lots of damage, particularly here to the woodmore subdivision in Silver Spring. That is Mother Nature really flexing her muscles. Damage was extensive to this house in the woodmore subdivision of Silver Spring. The show piece of this backyard gave way and crashed full force on the house. One was home or in in time lapse, witnessed the power of Mother Nature as she winds up to throw her punches on our region. Within minutes, incinerating strokes of lightning lit up the horizon. The storms came with wind gusts that push sheets of rain into blinding curtains. Minor flash flooding was one result. Another result, down trees and power lines. Many streets blocked and Power Outages that came hand in hand. Fortunately, damage like this tree on a house was not the norm. But where the storms struck, it struck hard. And update you just a few seconds ago, i was able to speak to the homeowners who didnt want to appear on camera. They are upset about this. I was wrong. Their 20yearold son was inside the house when it happened. He was not hurt. That is the good news. And some updated figures from pepco and bge coming in. Pepco now reporting up to 8900 customers out and bge serving over in Anne Arundel County and to north of us reporting 2300 customers out. There is potentially more of this to come. So watch out. Reporting live in Silver Spring, scott broom, wusa9. Glad he was not hurt in that. Thank you, scott. And as topper mentioned earlier, this storm is serious.
