Trophy high. The only player who is a veteran of the super bowl victories, the first in 2000. It is trademark, squirrel day, from the podium there was little talk about athletic greatness. Instead, an outpouring for the greatness of the fans in baltimore. And every moment, every time i have ever stepped in the stadium, what i receive was pure love. The city is going crazy for the ravens. The world champions. Baltimore ravens. People here could not escape the idea that they were part of sports celebration history. So many people, ive never seen so many people. If anybody has a chance, if you didnt get here yesterday, you wouldnt be here today. Back live now talking a look at mnt bank stadium. Again, such an incredible afternoon here. I think for a lot of the fans and many of them who cant afford regular season tickets, this was free today. For many of these fans, this was like being at the super bowl itself except without the 49ers and without those thousand dollar plane tickets to new orleans. They loved it and it was clear that the ravens were emotionally touched and they loved it, too. When i come back at6 00, youll hear some of their reactions after they witnessed all of this. Reporting live in baltimore, scott broom, wusa9. All right, tremendous passion and a whole lot of love. Thank you, scott. We have more video and photos from todays ravens parade and rally in baltimore on our website, wusa9. Com. And then youll want to tune into our special edition of game on purple rain. Its hosted by me and Kristen Berset. Now to a far different story. Two people are dead following an incredible and fast moving fire in what should have been a vacant apartment building. Firefighters were injured while battling the blaze on our street in southeast d. C. Bruce johnson reports that squatters in vacant buildings are not uncommon in the nations capitol. A motorist passing by was the first to see planes pouring out of the building at 17th and r streets in southeast. I dont know what happened. It took firefighters an hour to knock down the two alarm blaze, but not before two of them had injured shoulders. But the news will get worse. Two bodies were discovered in the fire. There is a possibility that they have gone in there to get away from the environment. City Officials Say the unit was listed as vacant. That meant the two people found inside would have been squatters. Their bodies were discovered on the first floor where investigators believe the fire was started. I have been complaining for at least the past six months that someone has been living or staying in that abandoned building. One of the Police Officers here on the scene tell me they have quite a few buildings like this in the area boarded up, but with squatters on the inside, most cases they cant make an arrest unless they have a direct complaint from the owner. And i knew something was going to happen eventually. Families lived in buildings on both sides of the blaze. Were away at the time of the fire. I was at work, but we got a call that the fire is at my building. I ran here as soon as i could. The Fire Department was left to determine the exact cause of the fire. D. C. Police were given the task of identifying the victims and investigating the cause of their death. Bruce johnson, wusa9. Less than an hour ago, a d. C. Police spokesperson had not determined the identities nor the sexes of the two dead people. We have got a breaking development now in our undercover investigation into d. C. Cabs tonight. The d. C. Taxi Commission Chairman just called and he is committed to sending inspectors on location with us despite the cabs on the spot. This after our investigation proved that even now in 2013, it is still significantly harder for black people in d. C. To catch a cab than it is for white folks. In fact, we found 25 of the time the cab byes rode by the customers and we have video pulling over 100 feet later. So tonight, we have a way for you to get involved that might help solve this problem. Investigative reporter is here to show exactly w hothat works. Russ. A lot of reaction and tonight, hope for change. When we first aired our story, showing cabs refusing service to black passengers, that was in december. They tweeted me saying we need to do it again. We did. You were right. Under cover of darkness, d. C. s taxis get worse. Nearly 100 taxis. Every saturday night for three weeks. From sun down until 2 00 in the morning. Tracking wusa9 staff. Is that good . And volunteers. Im russ, wusa9. Do you want to be part of an investigation . Including people we just met on the streets. To see who d. C. Cabs would choose. And why not . Who d. C. Cabs would refuse. I dont hold grudges, but i think you drove right by me. I didnt know. Didnt you see my waving at you . I did not see you. I was standing right there. In the southeast. This driver stopped, but denied our southeast d. C. Destination request. Why . Listen carefully. He has to go pick up two white passengers. I got a call. I have some white girls. Cabs would do u turns in the middle of the street. This black sedan pulled up in front of our white staffer a half block away. You stopped for the white passenger . You passed the black passenger and youre not licensed to pick up people on street at all. Never, i dont know how low it is. Not our white decoy. I just think its a shame that the cab wouldnt stop for the black man in dreads, but he stopped for the white man. The one cab that did stop ordered him out. What happened . Wait a second. You stopped for this passenger. Why arent you taking him where he wants to go. Did you get a better fare . Are you going to leave this kid here . We tested without a second passenger, too. Here, we alternated one white man with one black man to see how long theyd have to wait. The white passenger was picked up as quick as 15 seconds from when he started to hail. Waiting 5 minutes, 44 seconds at most. The black passengers, about three times longer. One at 14 minutes 18 seconds. The other, 14 minutes, 45 seconds. We cheered when this passenger finally got a cab, only to realize it was not a licensed d. C. Cab. What . Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Pull this cab over now. Right here. Right here. Come and get me. I chased that maryland cab two blocks before finding the passenger kicked out. He goes down a one way street running from me. But at least you got a cab. Right. Except for that cab that sped off, we didnt get a comment from him. The others are saying they didnt see those passengers. And how do you prove that its racism and just driving along and texting and not doing your job . Well, the statistics certainly dont add up, but how do you prove that it is racism. What you can do, there are rules that taxi drivers have to abide by. Thats how we can catch these taxi drivers not doing their job. This is what we said online. This is where you have a cab driver that you suspect, maybe hes not going to take you to the location you want. Before you have a transaction, maybe you say you are on eye alert. But in any case, you want to record it so you have that transaction. When that person says no, i dont go to that part of town, you send that immediately to eyealert wusa9. Com. You can book mark it, or log on to wusa9. Com. We have a link on the upper part of the banner. You upload the video, theres information there. Now, the basic violation for not hauling is 500. But just over the past few minutes in this conversation with the taxi Commission Chairman, he says they are now looking into equal opportunity. Human rights violations. That means a fine could be 1,000 a pop. Folks, get your camera, record what is going on out there. And were hearing conversation we can make change. All right, russ, i look forward to seeing the results in the next days and weeks. Anita. An alexandria fifth grader who brought a look alike gun to school has been suspended. We are selling all the beer we can brew and struggle to keep up with demand. Bill founded Port City Brewing Company two years ago, tapping into a nationwide boom in craft beers. The growing industry represents 6 of the market. But if sales of large domestic beers decline, sales of craft beers are up 11 . The top five things that men most judge women on, number one, is grammar, hair, clothing, and having or not having a tattoo. When it comes to women judging guys, teeth and grammar at the top, followed by clothing, hair, nails, or hands. Some other big stats from that survey. 65 would not date somebody with Credit Card Debt greater than 5,000 and 49 would consider getting into a committed relationship with somebody who still lived at home with mom and dad. Okay. I got to say, im a little surprised by a couple of things. The teeth is at the top of the list . Really . Thats like the floor, right . You have to have teeth and if you cant talk, we have a problem. Grammar, too. You have to have all your teeth. But you can fix teeth. If you dont have a sense of humor, you arent going to get it. But grammar, i dont be understanding why thats a problem. That would be the problem right there. Raiser sharp sense of humor, you have to have it. Living at home with mom and dad, i dont know.
