New tonight Metro Transit Police arrested William Nelson of morningside in connection with a beatdown on the green line that was caught on camera. Nelson faces charges of felony assault. For the 2nd evening in a row a pedestrian was struck on wisconsin avenue in northwest, but this time with deadly results. A woman was struck and killed by a pea pod truck around 6 15 at the intersection of wisconsin avenue and calvert street. The driver of the truck stayed at scene. Police are investigating whether the woman was in the crosswalk, but yesterday a man that was in the crosswalk was struck by a car on wisconsin avenue at veazy. Officers with virginias alcohol Beverage Control arrested Martese Johnson in downtown charlottesville last march, charged him with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. The video shows johnson badly bleeding from the head. The arrest sparked public uproar and investigation by the state police and based on this prosecutors decided the evidence does not warrant criminal charges. They also found no evidence to warrant charges against the officers who made the arrest. Now to cleveland where prosecutors say the tamir rice case will go to a grand jury. Tamir was the 12yearold boy shot and killed by a Police Officer in Cleveland Park last november. He was playing with a pellet gun. The prosecutors announcement today came just hours after a judge ruled there was probable cause to charge the Police Officer with murder and charge his partner with negligent homicide. Despite that finding it will be up to the grand jury and prosecutors to decide whether or not those officers will eventually face charges. D. C. s attorney general filed suit against two d. C. Police officers for fraudulently enrolling their children in d. C. Public schools. The suit alleges lieutenant alan hill and candace hill used false addresses to register their children at the School Tuition free during 2013 while the hill family lived in various locations in maryland and virginia and their d. C. Address was actually a rental property lieutenant hill owned. The lawsuit seeks recovery of more than 224,000 in unpaid nonresident tuition plus penalties. The massive theft of government workers information by hackers announced last week was far worse than had been acknowledged. That is the charge today from the nations Largest Federal Employee Union which said in a letter to the office of Personnel Management they believe the personnel information of every current federal employee was exposed in that breach. Reporter the investigation into the hack widely alleged to have originated in China Remains ongoing, but a letter today from the head of the largest federal Workers Union claimed the government knows much more than theyve released. The letter says the hackers target was the central Personnel Data file of opm which acts as the governments hr department. It claims hackers got Social Security numbers, military records, even home addresses for every current federal worker, 1 million retirees and 1 million more former employees.
