She said she took the photos that morning of hives on her arm, stomach, on her leg. We showed the photos to a dermatologist and said these are hives, but its impossible to say what caused them. Reporter while many artists were portraying African Americans in a racist light, roses work showed a different side of black culture. One of dignity and respect. Many people didnt understand. She was sensored. Reporter barbara has been collecting roses work for more than a decade. Her collection is now on display at the water fowl building in maryland. They know where they come from and theyre proud of that. Reporter some of the visitors are related to the people on the wall. Her work is just beautiful. It gives us a glimpse into what our ancestors lives were like, which is comforting. Reporter many of roses past subjects are buried in a cemetery near her Old Plantation. Rose died in 1965, and her ashes were scattered in the she was ahead of her time. She was light years ahead of her time. For a white person she was ahead of her time, thats how i see it.
